12/8/69 <br />No one further appeared before the Board. <br />REQUEST OF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR VOICE TAPE RECORDER <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />the Chief of Police for permission to advertise for bids for a voice tape <br />recording system, and set December 22, 1969, as the date for receiving bids. <br />The Clerk was directed to publish notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News on December 12 and December 19, 1969. <br />CONSENT TO VACATION FILED - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3301 - E. J. BARANY <br />The consent of Wells Electronics, Inc., to the vacation of: <br />the first north -south alley west of Main Street, running from <br />the south line of the first east -west alley south of Indiana <br />Avenue. Also, the first east -west alley south of Indiana <br />Avenue, running from the west line of Main Street west to the. <br />east line of the above mentioned north -south alley. <br />having been filed, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />City Engineer was directed to prepare an assessment roll. <br />REQUEST TO CONSTRUCT PEDESTRIAN RAMP - SHERLAND BUILDING TO MUNICIPAL PARKING <br />GARAGE <br />The request of Mathews, Purucker & Associates, Inc., 812 East Jefferson <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, to build a pedestrian ramp from the second <br />floor of the Sherland Building to the second floor of the Municipal <br />Parking Garage at the northwest corner of St. Joseph Street and Jefferson <br />Boulevard, was presented to the Board by the City Engineer, with the <br />recommendation of the City Engineer that the construction of such ramp be <br />approved on condition that detail.plans and specifications be submitted to <br />the City for final approval before construction is commenced. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the City Engineer for the construction of such pedestrian <br />ramp, subject to proper indemnification being provided to the City when final <br />agreement has been reached. <br />AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR MOVING TO COUNTY -CITY BUILDING <br />The bid of U. S. Van Lines of Indiana, Inc., in the amount of $3,435.00, <br />being the low bid for moving furniture and equipment from the City Hall and <br />the office of the Department of Redevelopment, 120 LaSalle West Building, <br />contract was awarded to U. S. Van Lines on December 2, 1969, and is this <br />date confirmed and made of record in these minutes. <br />ALARM STATION PERSONNEL - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimous?y carried, the Board approved and <br />ordered made a part of these minutes the following notice: <br />"August , 1969 <br />Joseph L. Zurat, Fire Chief <br />701 W. Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Re: Alarm Station Personnel <br />Dear Chief Zurat: <br />Effective January 1, 1970, the City switchboard in the Alarm <br />Station will be eliminated and a new telephone system will be <br />installed in the County -City Building which will permit in- <br />coming calls to be dialed direct to the different Departments. <br />An information desk will be manned on an eight hour basis, <br />five days per week, in the new County -City Building to receive <br />incoming calls where the person:dialing does not know the De- <br />partment. <br />
