PM <br />10/13/69 <br />SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT MANUAL - APPROVED <br />A revised manual (Sections 7.0 through 9.5 (H)) for guidance of the South <br />Bend Police personnel, filed with the Board January 13, 1969, by Chief of` <br />Police Thomas H. McNaughton and in final form presented by Chief of Police <br />Loren M. Bussert this date, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, was approved by the Board. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standard Director, appeared before the Board and the follow- <br />ing matters were taken up. <br />133 N. Carlisle. Neither Lee M. nor Gladys Witherspoon appeared before the <br />Board as requested. Mr. Adamson reported the owners have indicated they are <br />willing to have the building removed. Upon motion made, seconded and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board granted permission for the Sub -Standard Department <br />to advertise for bids for demolition of the structure at 133 N. Carlisle Street. <br />1024 S. Main Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />Board approved the request of Mr. Adamson for a further continuation of this <br />matter for one week. <br />810 W. Jefferson. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />Board approved the request of Mr. Adamson for a further continuation of this <br />matter for one week. <br />715 Marietta. Mr. Adamson reported the condition of these premises has-been <br />improved somewhat, the shed has been removed, the house and garage are open. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the matter was continued <br />one week. <br />120-122 S. Chapin. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter was further continued one week for an opportunity to inspect the premises. <br />2502 S. Michigan. Mr. Adamson reported the attorney for the owner has <br />represented to him that the property will be demolished, but that at the <br />present time it is still open. Harvey Bryant, demolition contractor, being <br />present at the meeting, volunteered the information that he bid on the <br />demolition of the property last week but that a controversy over the removal <br />of a tree has not yet been resolved. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the matter was further continued one week. <br />740 Frances. Mr. Adamson stated this property has been sold but that the Sub - <br />Standard Department has not yet had an opportunity to contact the new owner. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued <br />two weeks. <br />REQUEST FOR OWNERS OF SUB -STANDARD PROPERTIES TO APPEAR BEFORE BOARD 10/20/69 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re- <br />quest of Mr. Adamson for the owners of sub -standard properties to appear before <br />the Board on October 20, 1969, to show cause, if any they have, why such <br />properties should not be demolished, as follows: <br />Andrew Pustay <br />- 214 W. Angela <br />and 1320 Hillcrest Road <br />Michael and Ethel Zalas <br />- 9172 <br />N. Hill <br />Street <br />Lola Zeak <br />- 1815 <br />W. Ford <br />Street <br />Chester and Dorothy Spychalski <br />- 1219-1221 S. <br />Lafayette Street <br />Alexander T. Terlecki <br />- 1209 <br />S. Lafayette Street <br />Tim Ottbridge <br />- 1044 <br />LASalle <br />Court <br />And the Clerk was directed to so notify said owners by certified mail. <br />Demolition bids: <br />235 Paris Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the bids <br />for demolition of 235 Paris Street were rejected, and the Sub -Standards Director <br />was directed to readvertise for bids for demolition of the property. <br />1 <br />
