l0/6/69 931 Edison. Mr. Adamson reported some work has been done on this property and his office will keep it under surveillance. 1640 Portage. Mr. Adamson reported the demolition contractor, Jerry Davis, expects to complete the demolition of this property within the next day or two. 1044 LaSalle. (neighborhood complaint) Updn motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued one week for further investigation by the Sub - Standards Department. 1221 Grace Street. Miss Lillian Gruszka, one of the owners of this property, and Clarence Hoctel, in her behalf, appeared before the Boeed:to protest the all, demolition of the accessory building at this address, stating that it is in good condition, is used for storage and should not be demolished. The City Attorney advised that if the building is not sub -standard it should not be de- molished and Harvey Bryant, demolition contractor, who was awarded the°contract for the demolition of these premises, being present, was directed not to remove the accessory building. DeW ition bids opened: it1-1112 E. Ewing Street. This being the date set, bids were opened for demolition of the premises at this address. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. Bids were: O'Neal Trucking Company $606.00 Bryant Excavating Company $735.00 B & J Demolition Company $330.00 Midwest Demolition Company $5-14.00 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition of the structure at 111-1112 E. Ewing Street was awarded to B & J Demolition Company on its low bid of $330.00. And contract was executed by the Board. 133 N. Carlisle. Mr. Adamson stated this property is up for tax sale. The Clerk is directed to send.aertified notice to Lee M. Weatherspoon and wife notifying them to appear before the Board on October 13, 1969, to show cause why the structure at 133 N. Carlisle Street should not be demolished. (Later in the meeting, attorney Paul Schwertley appeared before the Board.) APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further process- ing: Joseph Peter Hill Gerald Harry Ornat RETIREMENT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - ROBERT L. COPELAND Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the retirement from the Police Department of Robert L. Copeland, effective October 16,"1969, officer Copeland having served more than 20 years. REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE OVER 30 days - JAMES HAMMER On motion made, seconded and carried, the request of the Police Department for sick time over 30 days on behalf of officer James Hammer was referred back to the Department for further information. HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3247 - S. CARLISLE STREET - (CONTINUED FROM 9/29/69) Hearing on the assessment roll for the improvement of S. Carlisle Street, from Prairie Avenue to Indiana Avenue, by constructing a Class C pavement with curb repair, having been continued from September 29, 1969, was further continued to October 13, 1969.
