s'_�v3 eo <br />October 6, 1969 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M. on October 6, 1969, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up. <br />1123 E. Donald Street.} Karl Dubail, owner of the premises, appeared before <br />the Board as requested, and stated it is his intention to bring the building <br />up to standard. Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter was continued 30 days to afford the owner time to rehabilitate the <br />building. <br />225 S. Chapin Street. Billy Joe and Mary Utley, land contract owners, <br />appeared before the Board as requested. Mr. Utley stated he has secured <br />the building after a recent fire, except for an upstairs window. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried , the matter was continued 30 <br />days to permit the owner to decide whether he will rebuild or demolish the <br />C property. Mr. Utley was requested by the Board to appear before the Board <br />on November 3, 1969, or to advise the Sub -Standards Director of his decision. <br />1534 S. Chapin. Frank V. Kuzmits did not appear before the Board as requested. <br />V Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director <br />was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the structure <br />at 1534 S. Cahpin Street. <br />120-122 S. Chapin Street. Mrs. Lillian Hipskind, owner of this property, <br />appeared before the Board as requested, and stated that she wishes to "get <br />rid of the property"; that she owes about $500.00 in back taxes on it which <br />she cannot pay; and that she is agreeable to having the property demolished. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued <br />one week to afford a further inspection of the property by the Board members. <br />1027 W. Jefferson. Louis A. Parent did not appear before the'Board as re- <br />quested. Mr. Adamson stated the house is open and in bad condition. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the property at <br />1027 W. Jefferson Boulevard. <br />1631 Linden Street. Neither Virgil nor Helen Turner appeared before the <br />Board as requested. Mr. Adamson stated he had had no response from the <br />owners. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />granted permission for the Sub -Standards Director to advertise for bids for <br />demolition of the accessory building at 1631 Linden Street. <br />519 Pennsylvania Avenue. Mr. Adamson stated Jack Chambers came to his office <br />prior to the Board meeting this morning. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, permission was granted to the Sub -Standards Director <br />to advertise for bids for the demolition of the structures, including <br />the accessory building, at 519 Pennsylvania Avenue. <br />1825 S. Miami Street. The owner of the property, Chicken Joy System, Inc., <br />did not appear before the Board as requested. Mr. Adamson stated this property <br />is in bad condition and a real hazard. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, permission was granted to the Sub -Standards Director to <br />advertise for bids for the demolition of the structures at 1825 S. Miami Street. <br />1017 N. St. Louis Street. At the request of Mr. Adamson, the motion was made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried that this matter be continued two weeks. <br />735 W. Jefferson Boulevard. Upon the request of Mr. Adamson, the motion was <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried that this matter be continued two weeks. <br />250(X S. Michigan Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />this matter was continued one week for further investigation. <br />740 Frances Street. Mr. Adamson reported the owner is still trying to sell <br />this property. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter <br />was continued one week. <br />
