Weimer: <br />No other demolition permit having been issued, contract awarded this date to B & J <br />on their low bid of $325.00, is now formally signed by the Board. <br />Reauest for Owners of Sub standard properties to appear before Board 8/25/69 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of Sub- <br />0 Standards Director for owners, of sub -standard property to appear before the Board <br />on August 25, 1969, to show cause, if any they have, why the following properties <br />should not be demolished: <br />Helen Fisher 410 Lincoln Way West <br />Mr. Herman F. Smith 739 South Bend Avenue <br />Gene J. Oakley (Lottie King) 715 Marietta Street <br />CCMPLAINT: 728 S. Rush <br />Sylas West of Urban League reports contractor did not complete job of demolition. <br />properly. Director of Sub -Standards offers to investigate. <br />COMPLAINT: 736 N. Francis Street <br />Catherine Williams of 734 N. Francis Street appears to complain of condition of <br />property at 736 N. Francis which she believes to be owned by Wallace Mitchell. <br />Weeds 5 feet tall. Owner is reported to have boarded up the structure but teen <br />alters still break in. She reports there are animals invading it such as'possums, <br />cats, etc. She reports house vacant and in this condition for at least seven years. <br />She complains also of 740 N. Francis being vacant and in bad repair for <br />nine or ten years. Sub -Standards has file on this and reports a fire. This property <br />is also reported by Mrs. Williams as being infested with animals. She believes <br />this property to be owned by William Scott. Director of Sub -Standards is investi- <br />gating all three of Mrs. Williams' complaints and is beginning the legal steps <br />necessary.for demolition. <br />740 Eddy St. was also discussed by Mrs. Williams' as having been a <br />floral shop now demolished but tie owners do nothing about the weeks and left <br />depressions and dangerous holes after demolition. Health Department is aware of <br />weed condition. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3259 - HAR.VAN DR. & ROSEMARY LANE (sewer) ASSESSMENT <br />ROLL HEARING <br />This being the date set,for hearing remonstrances against the Assessement Roll, <br />proof of publication was presented and read from the Tri-County News and the <br />South Bend Tribune. The following were present to remonstrate dagainst their <br />assessment: Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lovitt of 1304 Rosemary Lane <br />George and Patricia Huston of 1310 Rosemary Lane, zip code 46617 <br />The purpose of the hearing was explained to those present and both the Lovitts <br />and the Hustons felt the assessment unfair and claimed no notice. Mr. Worley <br />of Clyde Williams was present and explained he had discussed the project with <br />both families before it was begun and they expressed no objection at that time. <br />It was also explained=to the remonstrators that the majority must rule in these <br />matters and that the residents had petitioned for the sewer. The method of <br />Barrett Law payment was then explained to those present. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried this matter is continued for one <br />week to August 25, 1969. <br />STREET LIGHT - 1100 BLOCK EMERSON <br />The petition of Mrs. John Butler of 1104 Emerson Street for installation of a <br />street light in the 1100 block of Emerson having been referred to the Traffic <br />Engineer who now recommends the installation of a &,000 Lumen M.V. atthesouth <br />property line of 1104 Emerson at a cost to the city of $3.75 per month. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried the Traffic Engineer's recommendation is approved. <br />
