' k <br />8/18/69 <br />inspect periodically to ascertain the safeness and security of the building. <br />The original motion to grant extension of one week was then withdrawn and the <br />Board upon motion made, seconded and carried agreed to continue this matter <br />indefinitely until such time as it becomes unsafe and a hazard, <br />438-444 E LaSalle: <br />Sub -Standards reports a contract was signed with Bryant Excavatibg_for the <br />demolition of this structure by the owners, Mr. Bryant called the Boards <br />attention to the sidewalk at this site and the fact that it was in great dis- <br />repair in the event any complaint was filed at a later date. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the matter was continued for 30 days. <br />136 N. Notre Dame Ave: <br />Upon motion made seconded and carried, the owners request for an additional con- <br />tinuation was denied and they are directed to remove the structure within 30 days. <br />315 W. Garst: <br />The Director of Sub -Standards reports this property purchased by South Bend Lathe <br />and nothing has been done and he has had no response from the attorney who repre- <br />sents them to the letter written by Sub -standards 3 weeks ago and the structure <br />is still open and exposed. Upon motion made, seconded and carried this matter <br />a was continued for 1 week to August 25, 1969 and Sub -standards is to write again <br />by certified mail return receipt requested to South Bend Lathe with a request to <br />appear August 25, 1969. <br />2410-2412 W. Ford: <br />This matter having been continued from August 4, 1969 and the owner having appeared <br />June 30, 1969 and given a 30 day extention and the return receipt requested of <br />certified mail not being received, this matter is continued to August 25, 1969, <br />to await return receipt before further action is taken. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, this matter is continued to August 25, 1969. <br />1307 S. Fellows: <br />This structure reported badly burned. Fire Department in touch with attorney <br />representing owner. Attorney has been notified of condition and there has been <br />no response to notification. Upon motion made seconded and carried, Sub -Standard <br />Director is authorized to seek bids for demolition. It was suggested that Mr. <br />Adamson telephone Attorney Bodine, who represents owner, before advertising for <br />bids. <br />1640 Portage Avenue: <br />Sub -Standards reports a private contract for demolition has been signed by owner <br />with A & J Demolition. Demolition to date not begun. Mr. Davis of A & J indicated <br />that owner wanted to salvage several items from the building and he had written <br />the contract for 60 days instead of 30 days as permit requires. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried_: this matter is continued to August 25, 1969 to allow A & J <br />to complete demolition. <br />1201 Carroll: <br />Bids for demolition having been opened August 11, 1969 and contracted awarded to <br />Bryant Excavating on their low bid, the signing of the contract today was delayed <br />to hear Mr..Clem Winkowski, representing the owner Dubail. This was the first <br />appearance made by anyone connected with the property. Mr. Winkowski indicated <br />that the property had been sold on a land contract and the contract defaulted. <br />That nothing could be done until they got possession of the property which had <br />been accomplished and that a bid of repairs had been made. Since no appearance <br />had ever been made and 60 days extension was granted May 26, 1969, to allow for <br />repairs and since no mention had been made to rescind the original motion for <br />demolition. the motion.stands and -the contract was signed with Bryant Excavating. <br />318 Cushing: <br />This matter having been continued from July 14, 1969 after extension was granted <br />and nothing having been done by the owner Mrs. Parcher in the way of repair or <br />remedy, and upon motion made, seconded and carried Sub -standards was authorized to <br />seek bids for demolition, demolition notice will be sent before bids are sought, <br />BIAS FOR DEMOLITION This being the date set, bids for demolition of the following <br />properties were opened. Non collusion affidavits were found to be proper. Bids were: <br />1213 S. Clover: <br />Bryant Excavating $541.00 <br />.01Meal Trucking 585.00 <br />A & J Demolition also submitted a bid but the non collusion affidavit not being <br />signed, it was rejected. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for <br />demolition of 1213 S. Clover was awarded to Bryant Excavating on their lour bid of <br />$541.00, <br />
