August 18, 1969 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety met at 9:32 A.M. <br />on August 18, 1969, with all members present. The minutes of the previous <br />meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />Upon Chief Zurat's recommendation and motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />following applicants were approved for the Fire Department, effective August <br />18, 1969: <br />William Shaffer, 3205 Pleasant St. <br />Charles Wm. Harrison, 3757 Curtiss <br />Bernard Dobski, 1325 Johnson St. <br />Frank Patrick G1on, 718 S. Carlisle St. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Chief McNaughton for <br />permission for Captain Knepper to use a car for a trip to Dayton, Ohio, August <br />27, 28, and 29, 1969 to attend the Natiobal Cash Register Computor School was <br />approved. <br />EDDIE FAULKENS - POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICANT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried and upon Chief McNaughton's recommendation <br />the applicant Eddie Faulkens was accepted to the Police Department effective <br />August 16, 1969. <br />SPECIAL POLICE COMW[ISSION - GEORGE H. FERN <br />Upon Chief Bussert's and Chief McNaughton;s recommendation and motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the special police commission of George H. <br />Fern, employee of St. Joseph's Hospital was approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT STATISTICAL REPORTS FOR JULY 1969 <br />The statistical reports of the Police Department for July 1969 were filed <br />by the Board. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The applications of the following were filed with the Board: <br />William M. Howard <br />REQUEST OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS <br />The request of the Knights of Columbus to barricade certain alleys Thursday; <br />August 28, 1969 was received and filed with the Board and referred to the <br />Engineering Department for their study and recommendation. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - Sub -Standard <br />1024 S Main: <br />Virginia P. Thomas appeared before the Board to answer a request to show cause <br />why the necessary action had not been taken on this building. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried the owner of this property ;,.as given thirty days for re- <br />moval of the structure at 1024 S. Main <br />816 S.
