<br />REQUEST TO MOVE HOUSE APPROVED
<br />Pursuant to notice given by the Building Commissioner, Robert F. Van Holsbeke,
<br />1330 S. 30th Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board to protest
<br />the moving of a two story -house from 829 S. 30th Street to 1326 S. 30th Street
<br />as "not conforming to the rest of the neighborhood."
<br />Lewis Mitschelen, moving contractor, was also present. The Building Commissioner
<br />stated that the house does comply with the zoning ordinance. After hearing
<br />the facts, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board
<br />approved the moving of the house from 829 S. 30th Street to 1326 S. 30th Street.
<br />REQUEST TO SELL POPCORN IN DOWNTOWN AREA - KIWANIS CLUB OF POTAWATOMIE-SOUTH BEND
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of the Kiwanis Club of Potawatomie-South Bend, by Loyal R. Bare, 1920
<br />Ridgedale Road, South Bend, Indiana, to sell popcorn in the downtown area be-
<br />tween 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M., on August 9, 1969.
<br />REQUEST TO BLOCK ALLEYS FOR PICNIC 8/1/69 - WILLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSN.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request
<br />of Stephen Marozsan and Frank Wukovits, on behalf of William Penn Fraternal
<br />Association, 1024 W. Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to block the east -west
<br />alley and the north -south alley near its Lodge building at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue
<br />between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 11:00 P.M., August 2, 1969, during its annual
<br />picnic, and to grade the two alleys as requested.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE CHAPIN STREET FOR PICNIC 8/9/69 - HUNGARIAN CIVIC DEMOCRATIC CLUB
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of A. M. Herczog, for the Hungarian Civic And Democratic Club, 820 W.
<br />Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, for the closing of Chapin Street, from
<br />Calvert to Bruce Street, on Saturday, August 9, 1969, during its Club picnic
<br />on the grounds of Our Lady of Hungary Parish, on condition that certificate of
<br />insurance is provided to hold the City harmless.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE N. Gordon Drive, from North Gordon Circle to Rose Street,
<br />for block party 8/16/69
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of Mrs. Thomas Bauer, 1616 N. Gordon Drive, South Bend, Indiana, for per-
<br />mission to have N. Gordon Drive from N. Gordon Circle to Rose Street closed to
<br />traffic during a block party on Saturday, August 16, 1969, from 3:00 P.M. until
<br />midnight.
<br />iTEQUEST FOR NO PARKING SIGNS DURING COUNTY FAIR 8/5/69 to 8/9/69
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of Elmer Sokol, St. Joseph County Sheriff, for permission to post "no
<br />parking"signs on both sides of York Road and Jackson Road in the City, during the
<br />County Fair at the County Fair Grounds August 5 through August 9, 1969.
<br />DEMOTION APPROVED - FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the demotion of Joseph W. Szekendi,
<br />at his request, from the rank of lieutenant to the rank of fireman, effective
<br />August 1, 1969.
<br />PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT - GOLFVIEW LANE
<br />Petition for a street light at 1017 Golfview Lane was filed by Gary L. Selge,
<br />1025 Golfview Lane, and three others and, upon motion made, seconded and
<br />unanimously carried, referred to Traffic Engineering Department for study and
<br />recommendation.
<br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - 1600 BLOCK N. ADAMS STREET
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request for a street
<br />light in the 1600 block of N. Adams Street, filed by Mrs. Helen Jones, 1624
<br />N. Adams Street, was referred to Traffic Engineering Department for study and
<br />recommendation..
