7/14/69 STREET AND SEWER PLANS FILED - KENSINGTON FARMS Construction plans for streets and sewers in Kensington Farms Subdivision, Section 5, were filed by Engineering Planning Services, Inc., of Mishawaka, Indiana, and approved by the Board. TRAFFIC REGULATIONS APPROVED Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the Board approved the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of a stop sign and post on Hudson Street, at Portage Ayenue. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the - recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of a "Begin" plate above the "30 Speed Limit" sign on the north side of Jackson Road, 200 feet west of York Road. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of a "40 Speed Limit" sign by banding to the 3rd UP on Jackson Road west of Ironwood. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer to locate meter posts so as to pro- vide for a loading zone on the Lafayette Street side of the County -City Building, such loading zone to be designated as an emergency type of zone for access to the building. SPEED LIMIT 30 SIGNS Action on the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of Speed Limit 30 Signs and posts on Riverside Drive and on Summit between Western and Fdnd was postponed for one week. SPEED LIMIT SIGNS - JACKSON ROAD Traffic Engineer reports the missing speed limit signs on Jackson Road have been ordered replaced. Complaint having been filed by residents on Renfrew Drive with the Board on June 30, 1969. APPLICATIONS - FIRE DEPARTMENT The following applications for appointment to the South Bend Fire Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing; John Williams Bowles Bruce Harold Haenes APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for appointment to the South Bend Police Depart- ment were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: Sue Helene Coleman James Robert Christiansen Thomas Joseph Rudasics Barbara Ann Williams FINAL ORDER AWARD OF CONTRACT IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3258 - HARTMAN DRIVE For the improvement of Hartman Drive, from Rosemary•to dead end. Fifty one percent or more of the resident property owners on Hartman Drive having requested that said street be paved with Type IV pavement instead of Type III -A as designated in the preliminary order adopted on June 30, 1969, the preliminary order is hereby rescinded and said street is ordered paved with Type IV pavement. The Board, having examined all bids and being duly advised, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, awards contract to Bituminous Materials
