7/7/69 <br />REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF TIME - JERRY DAVIS <br />Jerry Davis, of A & J Demolition Company, upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, was granted an additional one week in which to complete the <br />demolition of 116 E. Ohio Street and 204 N. Carlisle Street, on account <br />of a break -down 'in equipment. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS - 500 and 600 BLOCKS E. OHIO STREET AND <br />TRAFFIC REGULATION <br />Mrs. Irene A. Stewart, 610 E. Ohio Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared <br />before the Board and presented a petition signed by 33 residents for <br />street lights in the 500 and 600 blocks of 'E. Ohio Street; and requested <br />that parking be banned on one side of the street. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the request was referred to the Traffic Engineering <br />Department for study and recommendation to the Board. <br />REQUEST LEAVE FOR MILITARY DUTY - JAMES E. ROBISON <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, thd.Board, upon the <br />recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton, approved the request <br />�•. of Patrolman James E. Robison for leave from July 26 to August 9, 1969, <br />for military duty at Camp Gray ling, Michigan. <br />PROMOTIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, sedonded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the recommendation of Chief Thomas McNaughton for the following promotions <br />in the Police Department: <br />Effective 7/12/69 - Promotion of Captain Kenneth McDonald to Division <br />Chief. <br />Effective 7/ 7/69 - Promotion of Sergeant Richard Albright to <br />Captain, to be assigned to 3rd Detail Patrol. <br />Effective 7/ 7/69 - Promotion of Sergeant Robert Seals to Captain, <br />to be assigned to ist Detail Patrol. <br />DEMOTION - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The demotion of Marvin.Schindler, at his request, from the rank of captain <br />to the rank of detective sergeant, 2nd Detail, was recommended by Chief <br />of Police Thomas'McNaughton and, upon.motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, approved by the Board. <br />ANNUAL REPORT - WEIGHTS AND MEASURES <br />The annual report for the fiscal year July 1,t968 to July 1, 1969, of the <br />Weights and Measures Department was filed by Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, <br />and ordered filed.of record. <br />ANNUAL REPORT - HUMANE SOCIETY <br />The annual report for the fiscal year from May 1, 1968 to May 1, 1969, of <br />the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, Indiana, Inc. was reviewed and <br />ordered filed. <br />"IN -KIND"' RENTAL VOUCHERS FOR JULY, 1969 - ACTION, INC <br />"In -kind" rental vouchers for the month of duly, 1969, by A.C.T.I.O.N., Inc. <br />for Fire Station #5 in the amount of $169.58 and for Fire Station #7 in the <br />amount of $200.00 were ordered filed. <br />REQUEST TO BURN TREES AND LIMBS - KAISER JEEP CORPORATION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Kaiser Jeep Corporation, 701 W. Chippewa Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, to burn trees and limbs accumulated as the result of clearing a <br />wooded area north of their Building 8, south of Ewing Avenue, for added <br />parking space, on the condition that such burning is done under the super- <br />vision of the Fire Department. <br />
