136 <br />5/26/69 <br />POLICE SERGEANT JOS_EPH RADECKI - DE <br />Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas H. McNaughton, the Board, <br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, approved the demotion <br />of police officer Joseph Radecki from the rank of sergeant to the rank of <br />patrolman, effective May 26, 1969. <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - GENE M. NORRIS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, and upon the recommenda- <br />tion of Chief of Police Thomas H.-MicNaughton, the Board, approved the appli- <br />cation of Gene M. Norris, of the Criminal Justice Commission, for appoint- <br />ment as a special police officer. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up. <br />7202 S. Columbia Street. Dr. Roscoe Wilson, Minister of the Peoples Church, <br />302 W. Washington Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board and <br />stated that this property had been a gift to the Church; that it is now in <br />the process of being sold; and he understands that the new owner will either <br />demolish the building or bring it up to standard. Dr. Wilson stated he did <br />not know the name of the purchaser and that the one in charge of the sale <br />is presently in Florida. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the matter was continued until the name of the new owner of the property can <br />be ascertained and contacted. <br />1226 Western Avenue. Dr. Joseph Laskowski, owner of this property, did not <br />appear as requested. Mr. Adamson states this property had a fire over a <br />year ago; that the owner stated he was trying to get repairs made; but Mr. <br />Adamson says it is still a hazard. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Board authorized the Sub -Standards Director to advertise for bids <br />for demolition of the property. <br />205 N. Carlisle. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, per- <br />mission was granted to advertise for bids for demolition of the property. <br />130-132 LaPorte. Ray Millikin, owner of this property did n of appear as re- <br />quested. Mr. Adamson stated he had received a letter from attorney John <br />Humphreys asking a continuance of one week. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the matter was continued for one weed. <br />1620 Poland. Mr. Adamson stated he had received a letter from attorney <br />Clifford Potts, attorney for the estate involving this property, and that <br />the estate is Milling to abandon the property. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, permission was granted to advertise for bids for <br />the demolition of the property. <br />233 E. Elder St. Mir. Adamson stated Fred J. Entzlan, owner of this property, <br />lives in New Mexico; that the house is in bad shape; that the National Bank <br />represents the Entzlans, through Mr. Mowrer, who says they will consent to <br />the demolition of the property. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Board granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of <br />the property. <br />1816 S. St. Joseph Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />a further extension of one week was granted in which to permit the owner to <br />finish cleaning up the premises. <br />201 Wakewa Street. Mr. Adamson stated he has received two bids for closing <br />up the property, one for $300.00 and one for $360.00 to close up the <br />structure; that in the past 48 hours considerable work has been done to close <br />the structure, although the garage is still open. Mr. Adamson was directed <br />to keep the property under surveillance. <br />
