5/19/69 <br />1816 S. St. Joseph Street. Joseph Taylor, owner of this property, appeared <br />before the Board as requested, and stated that he lives in this property. - <br />Mr. Adamson stated the buildings are in bad repair, a fallen tree should be <br />removed and debris cleaned from the yard and porch. Mr. Taylor stated the <br />tree had now been removed, he has a door to put on the garage and will clean <br />up the place. The matter was continued for one week. <br />223 E. Keasey Street. The owner of this property, David C. Cathey, did not <br />appear as requested. Mr. Adamson stated that this property has been demolished <br />by the owner. <br />434-436 E. LaSalle Avenue. Mr. Adamson stated that he had been contacted by <br />attorneys Cholis and Cholis, representing the owners, who asked -that the <br />property be removed. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />permission was granted to advertise for bids for demolition of the property. <br />130-132 LaPorte Avenue. Mr Adamson reported this property has been sold <br />by the previous owners Verlin and Edna Engle to Ray Millikan. The matter <br />was continued for one week to permit the new owner to repair the premises. <br />121z LaPorte Avenue. Evelyn Pisha, owner of this building, did not appear <br />as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />Board gra rated permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the <br />premises. <br />701 WakeraarStreet. Mr Adamson stated as of 9:20 this morning the building <br />was still open. Mr. Crumpacker moved that the City arrange for the closing <br />of the building in the proper manner, with the cost to be assessed against <br />the property owner. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously,. <br />205 N. Carlisle Street. A letter from James D. Nafe, attorney representing <br />the estate owner of this property, under date of May 14, 1969, stating that <br />"E3er.~St::Joseph Pro6ateC©eCt'.entered.an'oirdec'.authorizirag the undersigned <br />(James D. Nafe) as administrator of the estate of Mary Walinski to abandon <br />the subject real estate and I no longer claim any interest therein," was . <br />read and ordered filed. <br />Bids opened <br />Bids were opened for the dem©lition of the following properties. Upon <br />examination, non collusion affidavit accompanying each bid was found to be <br />proper. Bids were as follows: <br />728'-z S. Fellows Street: <br />Julius O'Neal - $370.00 <br />John E. Vanek - 729.00 <br />Harvey R. Bryant - 485.00 <br />A. Midwest Wrecking & Demolition - 525.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition <br />of the premises was awarded to Julius O'Neal at $370.00, that being the <br />lowest and best bid received. <br />724 South Bend Avenue: <br />Julius O'Neal - $749.00 <br />A. Midwest Wrecking & Demolition - 230.00 <br />Harvey R. Bryant - 835.00 <br />John E. Vanek - 1129.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the award of contract <br />for demolition of the property was postponed until fty 26, 1969, to determine <br />the bid intended by A. Midwest Wrecking & Demolition Company. <br />REQUEST TO VACATE FRANKLIN STREET- SEARS, ROEBUCK & COMPANY <br />Request to vacate Franklin Street, from Western to Monroe Streets, was filed <br />with the Board by Sears, Roebuck and Company, 411 S. Lafayette Boulevard, <br />South Bend, Indiana, and, upon, -.motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />was referred to the City Engineer for preparation of a map of the area and <br />for referral to the Area Plan Commission for study and recommendation to the <br />Board. <br />
