<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - AMERICAN LEGION POST NO. 272
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Louis Pinter on behalf of American Legion Post No. 272, 1712 S.
<br />Taylor Street, South Bend, Indiana, to hold a parade on May 30, 1969, and
<br />granted permission for a police escort and to barricade Chapin Street from
<br />Calvert north to Bruce Street during the parade, said parade to commence
<br />at 1712 S. Taylor Street at 8:30 A.M. and ending at Our Ladyof Hungary
<br />Church, upon condition that evidence of proper insurance to hold the City
<br />harmless is provided to the Board.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - COMMUNITY LITTLE LEAGUE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Raymond C. Zielinski, 6th District Councilman, for the Community
<br />Little League to hold a parade on Saturday, May 24, 1969, beginning at 9:30
<br />A.M. at Carlisle and Huron Streets and proceeding to the ball park in the
<br />1600 block of Sample, and approved the request for a police escort, on
<br />condition that evidence of proper insurance coverage is provided to the
<br />Board to hold the City harmless.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Fred Goerke, 1262 Woodward Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, for the
<br />Chet Waggoner Little League to hold a parade on May 17, 1969, commencing
<br />at 8:00 A.M., at Martin's Supermarket parking lot on the corner of Portage
<br />and Elwood and ending at the Little League ball park across from the County
<br />Home, and granted permission for a fire truck to be used in the parade, upon
<br />condition that evidence of proper insurance to hold the City harmless is
<br />provided to the Board.
<br />REQUEST TO BURN OLD LUMBER DENIED - ARROW ELECTRIC COMPANY
<br />Upon recommendation of the Fire Department that such burning would set an
<br />undesirable precedent, the Board, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously
<br />carried, denied the request of Arrow Electric Company, 1129 South Bend
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to burn old lumber from a building which was
<br />demolished at 1108 23rd Street.
<br />REQUEST TO DISTRIBUTE LEAFLETS DENIED - Y.W.C.A.
<br />The request of the Young Women's Christian Association, 802 N. Lafayette
<br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, by Janet C. Lane, Y.W.C.A. Teen -Age
<br />Program Director, to distribute leaflets on the downtown streets on May 19,
<br />1969, advertising a talk by "the Junkie Priest" at the First United Methodist
<br />Church, 333 N. Main Street, under the sponsorship of the "Y-Teens" was
<br />denied, as constituting a violation of city ordinance.
<br />REQUEST TO RESERVE PARKING SPACE AT CITY HALL
<br />The request to resere a parking space in front of City Hall for the use of
<br />City Departments on official business at City Hall was referred to the
<br />Traffic Engineer for recommendation.
<br />STREET LIGHT APPROVED - 700 BLOCK N. O'BRIEN
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department to install a 7000L MV
<br />OH WP street light in the 700 block of N. O'Brien Street, at a cost of
<br />$45.00 per year.
<br />LASALLE PARK STREET LIGHTING - COST SUMMARY
<br />Cost summary for the relighting of the LaSalle Park Area was submitted
<br />Traffic Engineering Department and, upon motion made, seconded and
<br />unanimously carried, was approved by the Board. Such relighting being
<br />an additional cost of $199.15 per month or a total of $2,389.80 for the
<br />Lz
<br />year.
