<br />REQUEST TO HOLD STREET SERVICES - REV. BRINKLEY COLLIER - WASHINGTON & WALNUT
<br />Rev. Brinkley Collier, of the Emanuel Church of God in Christ, 415 W. LaSalle
<br />Street, South Bend, appeared before the Board in connection with his request
<br />to hold street meetings at the corner of Washington and Walnut Streets on
<br />Thursdays and Saturdays, from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., commencing immediately
<br />and ending about the middle of September, 1969. There being no objection to
<br />such meetings by the Police Department, upon motion made, seconded and -
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the request.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - THIRD DISTRICT :'VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of the Third District, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1047 Lincolnway.East,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, to hold a parade on April 26, 1969, between 1:00 P.M.
<br />and 4:00 P.M., beginning at Wayne and Lafayette Streets, going east to
<br />Michigan, north to Colfax, west on Colfax to Main, south on Main and disband-
<br />ing at Jefferson and Main Streets.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD STREET MEETING- SOPHOMORE LITERARY FESTIVAL COUNCIL - NOTRE DAME
<br />The=red west of James E. Metzger, chairman of the Sophomore Literary Festival
<br />Couneii, 222 Badin Hall; University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana, to hold
<br />a "demonstration of opinion" meeting April 24, 1959, from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.,
<br />300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard, was considered by the Board. The Clerk
<br />was directed to advise Mr. Metzger no permit is necessary.
<br />Mr. Metzger explained about 120 students wished to hold this meeting in front
<br />of WSBT TV Station to protest censorship by Columbia Broadcasting System of
<br />CBS programs, particularly the program of the Smothers Brothers.
<br />REQUEST TO ATTEND 'TRAFFIC INST'-ITUTE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, to attend the Urban Arterial Traffic
<br />Institute April 22, and April 23, 1969.
<br />STREET PLANS APPROVED - CREST MANOR, IRELAND HEIGHTS
<br />City Engineer Lloyd S. Taylor reported that he has reviewed the street plans
<br />submitted for Crest Manor, Ireland Heights, and finds them to be in order.
<br />Thereupon, the motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried, that such
<br />plans be approved.
<br />PETITION TO IMPROVE VINE STREET, FROM 32ND TO 34TH STREET
<br />The petition of Beatrice Voelkel, 946 33rd Street, South Bend, Indiana, and 13
<br />others to pave Vine Street, from 32nd Street to 34th Street, was filed and,
<br />upon motion made, seconded and carried, was referred to the City Engineer for
<br />study and recommendation.
<br />STREET LIGHT PETITION - 932 E. SORIN STREET
<br />The petition of Brinkley Collier, 932 E. Sorin Street, South Bend, Indiana and
<br />19 others for a street light at 932 E. Sorin Street was filed and, upon motion
<br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, was referred to the Traffic Engineer
<br />for study and recommendation.
<br />RELEASE EXECUTED - CITY OF SOUTH BEND VS. VEOLA VAUGHN
<br />Release, prepared by the Legal Department, was executed by the Board for the
<br />settlement of a claim of the City of South Bend against Veola Vaughn for the
<br />sum of $1,284.00 for damage to a police car resulting from a collision on
<br />September 19, 1967.
<br />TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
<br />Action in regard to the following traffic regulations:
<br />30 miles per hour speed limit on York Road,
<br />25 miles per hour speed limit on Berkshire.
