Zurat for Chief Zurat and Assistant,Chief <br />William Diedrich to attend the international Arson Investigation Seminar in <br />Virginia Beach, Virginia, from April 14 to April 18, 1969. <br />APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed <br />and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: <br />Darrell Gene Gunn Phillip Glenn Williams <br />Dale Edward Kusmiez Lonzo,Kerr, Jr. <br />Donald Paul Phillips <br />RETIREMENT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - EUGENE J. PINTER <br />Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas H. McNaughton, the Board <br />accepted and approved the application for retirement of Eugene J. Pinter <br />from the South Bend Police Department, effective April 1, 1969. <br />REQUEST TO TRANSFER FUNDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The request of Police Chief McNaughton for the transfer of funds, as follows: <br />from Acct. P-11 (services personal) to Acct. P-23 (instructions) - $ 500.00 <br />from Acct..P-11 (services personal) to Acct. P-213 (travel exp.) - $2000.00 <br />for the reason that present day demands for increased training in specialized <br />fields requires greater use of these budgets, upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, was referred to the City Attorney for study and recommendation to the <br />Board. <br />REQUEST FOR.THE ADOPTION OF CLOTHING ALLOWANCE POLICY - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The request of Police Chief McNaughton for the adoption of the following <br />clothing allowance policy: <br />"All personnel appointed to the South Bend Police Department will <br />be furnished all uniforms, arms and equipment necessary to the per- <br />formance of their duties. During the second calendar year of <br />service each member shall receive one-fourth of the established clothing <br />allowance for each full or partial quarter year of service during the <br />preceding calendar year. <br />"Ali personnel with less than five full calendar years of service <br />will be provided and not to exceed $200.00 annual alloance for the <br />purchase of uniforms, arms and equipment. The allowance must be <br />used for items specified in the uniform bids accepted by the Board <br />of Public Works and Safety. If a member is assigned to non -uniform <br />duties, he shall be paid the allowance in cash. <br />"Upon completion of five full calendar years of service, cash pay- <br />ment in lieu of the allowance will be paid to the member requesting <br />the allowance in the amount of $200.00. All requests for allowance <br />as outlined in this paragraph must be reviewed and approved by the <br />personnel's respective commanding officer." <br />upon motion made, seconded and carried, was referred to the City Attorney for <br />study and recommendation to the Board. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
