March 24, 1969 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at. <br />10:00 A.M. on March 24, 1969, with all members present. The minutes of <br />the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPEN BIDS FOR TEMPORARY LOAN WARRANTS - $700,000.00 <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for a temporary loan to the City <br />of South Bend in the sum not exceeding $700,000.00, which said loan is being made <br />for the, purpose of securing funds to meet current operating expenses of the <br />City payable out of the General Fund prior -to the collection of taxes in <br />the year 1969, proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- <br />County News on March 14 and March 21, 1969, were read and found to be <br />sufficient. <br />Bids were opened and were as follows: <br />American National Bk. & Tr. Co., <br />First Bank & Trust Co. <br />National Bank & Trust Co. <br />Interest rate <br />per annum <br />So. <br />Bend, <br />Ind. <br />3.800/. <br />So. <br />Bend, <br />Ind. <br />4.25% <br />So. <br />Bend, <br />Ind. <br />3.290% <br />So. <br />Bend, <br />Ind. <br />3.99% <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract was awarded to First Bank <br />and Trust Company, theirs being the lowest and best bid received. <br />OPEN BIDS: <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of the <br />following: <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3260 - 33rd Street, from Peasant-Street•to�--North- <br />sMde'Boul'evard Tby constructing a Class C pavement with curb repair. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3263 - 35th Street, from Jefferson Boulevard to <br />the railroad south of Jefferson Boulevard by constructing a Class C pavement <br />with curb repair. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3265 - Clyde Street, from Donald Street to Calvert <br />by constructing .a -Class C pavement with curb repair. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3266 - Sancome Street, from LaPorte Avenue to <br />Lincolnway West by constructing a Class C pavement with curb repair. <br />the Clerk tendered.proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri County News on March 14 and March 21, 1969, which were read and found to <br />be sufficient. <br />There being no bids received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />taking of new bids for such improvements was taken under advisement. <br />FINAL ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3277 - EDMOND COURT <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on Vacation Resolution No. 3277, <br />adopted on the lOth day of March, 1969, being a petition for the vacation <br />of: <br />A portion of Edmond Court, situated between Notre Dame <br />Avenue and frances Street, from LaSalle Avenue south .to <br />the first east -west alley also known as Luther Court. <br />Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on <br />March 14 and March 21, 1969, were read and found to be sufficient. No re- <br />monstrances having been received -and no remonstrators having appeared, upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, preliminary Resolution was <br />finally adopted and said property ordered vacated. And the City Engineer <br />was directed to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits <br />and the award of damages to surrounding property owners. <br />
