56 <br />3/ 17/69 <br />227 S. Walnut Street: <br />John E. Vanek, South Bend, Ind. - $730.00 <br />Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend, Ind. - $600.00 <br />The bid of Harvey R. Bryant being the lowest and best bid received, con- <br />tract for demolition of the property was awarded to him. <br />RECOMMENDATION OF STREET COMMISSIONER FOR STREET MATERIALS APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of the Street Commissioner to award contracts for street materials to the <br />low bidder, with the following exceptions <br />Item #2 - Material samples sha1.1 first be submitted by both Cass <br />County Stone Corporation and Western Indiana Aggregate. <br />Item #4 - 1 (a). Subject to opinion of Legal Department on bid <br />received by the Board after time set for receiving bids. <br />BIDS REJECTED - 602000 LB. CAB AND CHASSIS AND SLURRY MACHINE <br />Upon motion^made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of Richard B. Gartner, Street Commissioner, to reject all bids received on <br />March, 10, 1969, for a 60,000 l b. chassis cab and continuous mix slurry machine <br />for the reason that after a review of their program, budget and value of <br />trade -.in equipment, it would seem advantageous to take bids on two new cabs <br />and chassis, trading in the old ones; and to overhaul both slurry machines <br />now in use for two or three more years usage. <br />REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - STREET DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of Richard B. Gartner, Street Commissioner, to advertise for bids for two <br />50,000 lb. GVW tandem axle cabs and chassis. April 7, 1969, was set as the <br />time for receiving bids and the Clerk was directed to advertise in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on March 21, 1969 and March 28, 1969. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board recessed at 11:32 A.M. <br />until the afternoon. <br />Clerk <br />The Board reconvened at 3:45 P.M., on March 17, 1969, with S. J. Crumpacker <br />and James A. Bickel present. <br />STREET MATERIAL BID MARCH 10, 1969 - ITEM #4 <br />Mr. Crumpacker, City Attorney, moved that in view of the confusion which <br />seems to have arisen over the time when _some of the bids were received <br />all bids for Item #4 l(a)' (being for 200,000 gallons of dust control road <br />oil) be rejected and that March 31, 1969, be set as the date for receiving <br />new bids on this item. The motion was seconded and carried. And the Clerk <br />was directed to.advertise in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News <br />on March 21 and March 28, 1969. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
