<br />"In -Kind" rental vouchers for the month of March, 1969, from ACTION,INC.
<br />for March, 1969, for Fire Station#5 at 1040 Lincolnway East ($169.58)
<br />and for Fire Station #7 at 803 N. Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend,
<br />($200.00) were ordered filed.
<br />REQUEST FOR FIREMEN TO DISTRIBUTE CANNISTERS - MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board denied the request of
<br />the Indiana Multiple Sclerosis Society, P. 0. Box 433,
<br />South Bend, Indiana,
<br />for firemen to distribute cannisters for its National fund drive commenc-
<br />ing the middle of April and ending the last of May, for the reason that
<br />such distributions would be made while the firemen are on duty and for the
<br />further reason that it would involve the Me of Fire Department equipment.
<br />REQUEST TO BURN STUMP - MOREY'S PARTY HOUSE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />M. G. Morey, Morey's Party House, 1630 Lincolnway East, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />to burn out a stump on the parking lot at 1617 Eldora Court, subject to the
<br />approval of the South Bend Fire Department.
<br />REQUEST TO BURN RAILROAD TIES - PENN CENTRAL RAILROAD
<br />Mr. B. E. Starke, Track Supervisor of Penn -Central Railroad, Elkhart, Indiana,
<br />appeared before the Board to request permission to burn railroad ties at the.
<br />southwest quadrant of Olive and Sample Streets, and also Meade Street to the
<br />western city limits. Fire Chief Dietrich, also being present, advised that
<br />the Fire Department would have no objection to this burning under the super-
<br />vision of the Fire Department. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
<br />Board approved the request for the railroad ties as requested, upon con-
<br />dition that the time and place of burning be approved by the Fire Department.
<br />REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL STREET LIGHTS - ST, JOSEPH PARISH
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition of C. J. Trojanowski,
<br />chairman of the Administration Commission of St. Joseph Parish, 620 Northwood
<br />Drive, South Bend, Indiana, and 15 others, for the installation of additional
<br />street lights in St. Joseph Parish, was referred to the Traffic Engineer
<br />for study and recommendation to the Board.
<br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT - STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION
<br />Traffic signal maintenance agreement between the State Highway Commission
<br />and the City of South Bend, by the Board of Public Works and Safety, for the
<br />maintenance of State highways through the City of South Bend, effective
<br />January 1, 1969 and continuing until such time as it may be terminated by
<br />mutual agreement or by either party giving 30 days written notice, was
<br />ordered filed. -
<br />PETITION TO IMPROVE CLYDE STREET. FROM EWING TO ALTGELD
<br />Petition to improve Clyde Street, from Ewing to Altgeld, according to Barrett
<br />Law, was filed with the Board by George J. Dunlap, 2310 S. Clyde Street and,
<br />upon motion made, seconded and carried, was referred to the City Engineer
<br />for study and recommendation to the Board.
<br />FINAL CONFIRMATION OF IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3258 - HARTMAN DRIVE
<br />For the improvement of Hartman Drive, from Rosemary Lane to dead end, by
<br />constructing a Class C pavement with curbs.
<br />No remonstrances having been received against said improvement, upon motion
<br />made, seconded and carried, Resolution adopted by the Board on February 3, 1969
<br />and first confirmed on February 26, 1969, was in all things finally confirmed
<br />and the improvement ordered made.
