3/17/69 A. J. Davis , appearing before the Board, complained that he had not been permitted to demolish his own property at 1127 Campeau Street, and complained that bids submitted by him to the Building Department had not been considered. A lengthy discussion ensued in which Mr. Davis was advised that his. failure to keep his promises to the Board concerning this property had resulted in a contract for its demolition being awarded elsewhere and that this contract could not be rescinded unless the contractor was willing. in reference to Mr. Davis' complaint bids submitted by him had not been considered, Mr. Taylor read to Mr. Davis a letter received by the Sub -Standards Department from Mr. Davis's bondholder notifying that Department that his bond was to be cancelled April 4, 1969; and for this reason no further bids would be considered unless and until Mr. Davis furnishes the Board proof of sufficient insurance coverage. 1817 Benton Court. Mr. Adamson stated the owners of this property are willing for it to be demolished and declined to appear before the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, permission was granted to advertise for bids for demolition of the property. 1227 Carroll Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, permission was granted to advertise for bids for the demolition of this property. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Mr. Adamson for the following owners to appear before the Board: Alonzo Reed - 909 Oak Street Anne Niemiec - 715 George Avenue M. T. Hartman - 804 E. Dubail Avenue Gloria Palmer - 506 E. Ohio Street And the Clerk was directed to notify such owners by certified mail to appear before the Board on March 31, 1969. Bids were then opened for demolition of the following properties. Non collusion affidavits were examined and found to be proper. Bids were as follows: 727 Columbia Street: A. Bryant being the lowest and best bid received, contract for demolition of this property was awarded to him. 1702 E. Calvert Street: A. Midwest Wrecking Co., So. Bend, Ind. - $395.00 Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend, Ind. - $350.00 John E. Vanek, South Bend, Indiana - $330.00 The bid of John E. Vanek being the lowest and best bid received, contract for demolition of this property was awarded to him. 1613 N. Olive Street: A. Midwest Wrecking Co., So. Bend, Ind.- - $395.00 John E. Vanek, South Bend, Ind. - $330.00 Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend, Ind. - $435.00 The bid of John E. Vanek being the lowest and best bid received, contract for demolition of this property was awarded to him.
