2/24/69 APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT ,«oa%POLII`CE DEPARTMENT The application of Patrick Donald Cottrell for appointment to the South Bend>Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing. APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following appointments as special police officers, as recommended by Chief of Police Thomas H. McNaughton: Daniel Charles Dutrieux - Bendix Corporation Robert D. Ruth - Gates Chevrolet Corporation Peter C. Slater - Bendix Corporation Ronald C. Swiatowy - American District Telegraph Company POLICE TRAFFIC REPORT FOR JANUARY, 1969 Police traffic report for January, 1969, was reviewed and ordered filed. SICK LEAVE EXTENSION - POLICE OFFICERS BAILEY AND NAWROCKI The matter of extending sick leave for police officers Dennis Bailey and E. J. Nawrocki was postponed to a later date. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION Mr. J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up: 2525 W. Lawton. This being the date set for receiving bids for the de- molition of this property, Mr. Adamson tendered the one bid received, which was from Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend. The bid was opened and non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid being in the amount of $735.00, including water shut off. This being the only bid received and appearing to be reasonable, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the contract for demolition of the structure was awarded to Harvey R. Bryant. 5132 E. South Street. This being the date set for receiving bids for de- molition of this property, Mr. Adamson tendered the one bid received, which was .from Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend. The bid was opened and non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid being in the amount of $450.00, including water shut-off. This being the only bid received and appearing to be reasonable, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the contract for demolition of the property was awarded to Harvey R. Bryant. 522 S. Rush Street. This being the date set for receiving bids for de- molition of this property, Mr. Adamson tendered the bids received, which were opened and non collusion affidavits found to be proper. Bids were as follows: Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend, Indiana - $1,035.00 including water shut-off. Midwest Demolition and Wrecking Company, by Robert T. Lowe, President, 438 S. Albert Street, South Bend, Indiana - $785.00 including water shut-off. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for demolition of this property was awarded to Midwest Demolition and Wrecking Company, theirs being the lowest and best bid received. 530 S. Fellows Street. Noble Skinner, owner of this property, appeared before the Board and stated that he has been rehabilitating this property but has not yet completed the same; that he has a potential buyer, and asked for further.extension of time until he can get the matter concluded. Mr. Adamson corroborated Mr. Skinner's statements. Upon motion made,
