2/24/69 <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT ,«oa%POLII`CE DEPARTMENT <br />The application of Patrick Donald Cottrell for appointment to the South <br />Bend>Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the <br />Personnel Director for further processing. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the following appointments as special police officers, as recommended <br />by Chief of Police Thomas H. McNaughton: <br />Daniel Charles Dutrieux - Bendix Corporation <br />Robert D. Ruth - Gates Chevrolet Corporation <br />Peter C. Slater - Bendix Corporation <br />Ronald C. Swiatowy - American District Telegraph Company <br />POLICE TRAFFIC REPORT FOR JANUARY, 1969 <br />Police traffic report for January, 1969, was reviewed and ordered filed. <br />SICK LEAVE EXTENSION - POLICE OFFICERS BAILEY AND NAWROCKI <br />The matter of extending sick leave for police officers Dennis Bailey <br />and E. J. Nawrocki was postponed to a later date. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and <br />the following matters were taken up: <br />2525 W. Lawton. This being the date set for receiving bids for the de- <br />molition of this property, Mr. Adamson tendered the one bid received, <br />which was from Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend. The bid was opened and non <br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid being in the amount <br />of $735.00, including water shut off. <br />This being the only bid received and appearing to be reasonable, upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the contract for demolition <br />of the structure was awarded to Harvey R. Bryant. <br />5132 E. South Street. This being the date set for receiving bids for de- <br />molition of this property, Mr. Adamson tendered the one bid received, <br />which was .from Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend. The bid was opened and non <br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid being in the amount <br />of $450.00, including water shut-off. <br />This being the only bid received and appearing to be reasonable, upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the contract for demolition <br />of the property was awarded to Harvey R. Bryant. <br />522 S. Rush Street. This being the date set for receiving bids for de- <br />molition of this property, Mr. Adamson tendered the bids received, which <br />were opened and non collusion affidavits found to be proper. Bids were <br />as follows: <br />Harvey R. Bryant, South Bend, Indiana - $1,035.00 including water <br />shut-off. <br />Midwest Demolition and Wrecking Company, by Robert T. Lowe, <br />President, 438 S. Albert Street, South Bend, Indiana - $785.00 <br />including water shut-off. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for demolition of this <br />property was awarded to Midwest Demolition and Wrecking Company, theirs <br />being the lowest and best bid received. <br />530 S. Fellows Street. Noble Skinner, owner of this property, appeared <br />before the Board and stated that he has been rehabilitating this property <br />but has not yet completed the same; that he has a potential buyer, and <br />asked for further.extension of time until he can get the matter concluded. <br />Mr. Adamson corroborated Mr. Skinner's statements.
