February 24, 1969. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at <br />10:00 A.M., on February 24, 1969, with all members present. " <br />PETITION TO VACATE AND RELOCATE ALLEY - AMERICAN TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH COMPANY <br />The petition of American Telephone and Telegraph Company to vacate: <br />an existing alley beginning on Wayne Street and running <br />north to the meeting thereof with another alley running <br />east and west, and a portion of the latter alley 32 feet <br />in length east and west and 162 feet in width north and <br />south, described as part of the existing alleys located <br />in Weaver's Subdivision in the City of South Bend, St. <br />Joseph County, Indiana, being further described as follows: <br />Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 8 in said <br />Weaver's Subdivision; thence north along the east line of <br />Lots 8, 9 and 10 in said subdivision 127.50 feet; thence <br />east along the north line of the existing alley 32.0 feet; <br />thence south parallel with the west line of Lot 7 and the <br />east line of Lots 8, 9 and 10 in said Subdivision 16.50 <br />feet to a point on the north line of the south 111.00 feet <br />of Lot 7; thence west along said north line of the south <br />111.00 feet of Lot 7, a distance of 22.0 feet; thence <br />south along the west line of Lot 7 a distance of 111.00 <br />feet to the southwest corner of said Lot; thence west 10.0 <br />feet to the point of beginning. <br />and, in lieu of the foregoing alleys or portions of alleys, to establish a <br />new alley 13 feet in`width, beginning at Wayne Street and running north <br />to ther4eeting place with an alley running east and west, described as <br />part of Lots 6 and 7 in Weaver's Subdivision, in the city of South Bend, <br />St. Joseph County, Indiana, being further described as: <br />Beginning at a point on the south line of said Lot 7, <br />being 22.0 feet east of the southwest corner of said Lot; <br />thence north parallel to the west line of said Lot 7, a <br />distance of 111.00 feet; thence east along the north line <br />of the south 111.00 feet of Lots 6 and 7, a distance of <br />13.00 feet; thence south parallel to the west line of Lot 7, <br />a distance of 111.00 feet to an iron pipe on the north line <br />of Wayne Street and south line of Lot 6; thence west along <br />said line 13.00 feet to the point of beginning. <br />was filed with the Board by attorney Joseph A Roper and, upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, referred to the City Engineer for the preparation of <br />drawings before forwarding to the Area Plan Commission for its study and <br />recommendation to the Board. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD STREET SERVICES - CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST <br />Mrs. Dora Lottie, 2024 Pershing Street, South Bend, appeared before the <br />Board at its request, and explained the manner in which the Church of God <br />in Christ proposed to hold street services. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request to <br />hold such services at the corner of Michigan and Ohio Streets from 3:00 P.M. <br />to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesdays and Fridays each week commencing February 27, 1969, <br />and continuing for a period of three months, on condition that the services <br />be conducted on the sidewalk only, will not interfere with traffic and <br />will not create undue noise. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimouslycarried, the Board approved the <br />applications and declarations for retirement from the South Bend FXte Depart- <br />ment submitted by Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following firemen: <br />Louis L. Horvath - effective February 27, 1969. <br />Sylvester W. Zwierzynski - effective March 1, 1969. <br />
