February 24, 1969. A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 A.M., on February 24, 1969, with all members present. " PETITION TO VACATE AND RELOCATE ALLEY - AMERICAN TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH COMPANY The petition of American Telephone and Telegraph Company to vacate: an existing alley beginning on Wayne Street and running north to the meeting thereof with another alley running east and west, and a portion of the latter alley 32 feet in length east and west and 162 feet in width north and south, described as part of the existing alleys located in Weaver's Subdivision in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, being further described as follows: Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 8 in said Weaver's Subdivision; thence north along the east line of Lots 8, 9 and 10 in said subdivision 127.50 feet; thence east along the north line of the existing alley 32.0 feet; thence south parallel with the west line of Lot 7 and the east line of Lots 8, 9 and 10 in said Subdivision 16.50 feet to a point on the north line of the south 111.00 feet of Lot 7; thence west along said north line of the south 111.00 feet of Lot 7, a distance of 22.0 feet; thence south along the west line of Lot 7 a distance of 111.00 feet to the southwest corner of said Lot; thence west 10.0 feet to the point of beginning. and, in lieu of the foregoing alleys or portions of alleys, to establish a new alley 13 feet in`width, beginning at Wayne Street and running north to ther4eeting place with an alley running east and west, described as part of Lots 6 and 7 in Weaver's Subdivision, in the city of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, being further described as: Beginning at a point on the south line of said Lot 7, being 22.0 feet east of the southwest corner of said Lot; thence north parallel to the west line of said Lot 7, a distance of 111.00 feet; thence east along the north line of the south 111.00 feet of Lots 6 and 7, a distance of 13.00 feet; thence south parallel to the west line of Lot 7, a distance of 111.00 feet to an iron pipe on the north line of Wayne Street and south line of Lot 6; thence west along said line 13.00 feet to the point of beginning. was filed with the Board by attorney Joseph A Roper and, upon motion made, seconded and carried, referred to the City Engineer for the preparation of drawings before forwarding to the Area Plan Commission for its study and recommendation to the Board. REQUEST TO HOLD STREET SERVICES - CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST Mrs. Dora Lottie, 2024 Pershing Street, South Bend, appeared before the Board at its request, and explained the manner in which the Church of God in Christ proposed to hold street services. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request to hold such services at the corner of Michigan and Ohio Streets from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesdays and Fridays each week commencing February 27, 1969, and continuing for a period of three months, on condition that the services be conducted on the sidewalk only, will not interfere with traffic and will not create undue noise. APPLICATIONS FOR RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT Upon motion made, seconded and unanimouslycarried, the Board approved the applications and declarations for retirement from the South Bend FXte Depart- ment submitted by Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following firemen: Louis L. Horvath - effective February 27, 1969. Sylvester W. Zwierzynski - effective March 1, 1969.
