5/24/71 <br />Fi1RE-:DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO BE EXCUSED FOR MILITARY DUTY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for firemen David Daren and Alan <br />J. Dzialakiewicz to be excused for military in the United States Marine <br />Corps May 29 to June 13, 1971. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APRIL, 1971 REPORTS <br />Statistical report and traffic report of the Police Department for the <br />month of April, 1971, were reviewed and ordered filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />305 E. Wenger Street. Mr. Liszewski reported Alonzo Johnson, the owner, <br />expects to bring the property up to standard within 30 days. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the matter of 305 E. Wenger Street was con- <br />tinued four weeks. <br />424 S. Illinois Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the structure at 424 S. Illinois <br />Street has been secured and the premises cleaned up. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the matter of 424 S. Illinois Street was continued <br />indefinitely, under the surveillance of the Sub -Standards Department. <br />AREA PLAN COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3342, 1971 <br />EAST -WEST ALLEY BETWEEN WESTERN AND MONROE - DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT <br />Area Plan Commission files wth the Board its recommendation for the vacation <br />of the east -west alley between Western Avenue and Monroe Street, running west <br />from the west right.of way line of Michigan Street to the east right of way <br />line of the north -south alley between Michigan and Main Streets. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following Resolution <br />was adopted: <br />"VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3342, 1971 <br />"RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, That it is desirable to vacate the <br />following: <br />The east -west alley between Western Avenue and Monroe <br />Street, running west from the west right of way line <br />of Michigan Street to the east right of way line of <br />the north -south alley between Michigan Street and Main <br />Street. <br />Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities and the <br />Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain any <br />facilities, including, but not limited,to the following: electric, <br />telephone, gas, water, sewer, surface water control structures and <br />ditches, within the vacated right of way, unless such rights are re- <br />leased by the individual utilities. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially <br />affected by such vacation: <br />Lots 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 in Martin's Subdivision. <br />Notice of this Resolution shall be published on the 28th <br />day of May and the 4th day of June, 1971, in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri County News. <br />This Board, at its office, on the 7th day of June, 1971, <br />at 9:30 o'clock, A.M., will hear and receive remonstrances from all <br />
