<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at
<br />9:30 A.M. on May 24, 1971, with,all members present.
<br />OPEN BIDS - DIVISION A,,WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT ADDITIONS
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the construction of
<br />Division A, Wastewater Treatment Plant Additions, the Clerk tendered
<br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri
<br />County News on April 23 and April 30, 1971, which were read and found
<br />to be sufficient.
<br />The President of the Board stated he would read only the total amount
<br />of each bid,if agreeable to the bidders present, and the low bid in
<br />its entirety. No objections were made, and the bids were opened as
<br />follows:
<br />�-{ Acton Construction Company, P. 0. BJx 394, Hugo, Minnesota. Non collusion
<br />affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a bid bond
<br />in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with bidder's financial statement
<br />(State Board of Accounts Form 96-a.

<br />C & C Boyer, Inc., 4625 Industrial Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Non
<br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a
<br />bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with bidder's financial
<br />statement (State Board of Accounts Form 96-a).
<br />Total bid --------------------- $7,896,300.00
<br />H. G. Christman Construction, Inc., 850 S. Fellows Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was
<br />accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with
<br />bidder's financial statement (State Board of Accounts Form 96-a).
<br />Total bid-------------------- $8,749,000.00
<br />Schumacher Sons, Inc., 321 S. Spring Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. Non
<br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by
<br />a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with bidder's financial
<br />statement (State Board of Accounts Form 96-a).
<br />Sollitt Construction Company, 301 Columbia Street, South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied
<br />by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with bidder's
<br />financial statement (State Board of Accounts Form 96-a).
<br />Total bid-------------------- $6,540,000.00
<br />The bid of Sollitt Construction Company, being the low bid, was read in
<br />its entirety.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the bids were referred
<br />to Clyde E— Williams and Associates, Inc., consulting engineers, for
<br />review and recommendation to the Board.
<br />NO BIDS RECEIVED - FOR THE SALE OF REAL ESTATE AT WASHINGTON AND CHAPIN
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the sale of real estate
<br />generally described as a part of Lot 4 in Mary Witherill's Subdivision
<br />of Bank Out Lot 32 located on the northwest corner of Washington Avenue
<br />and Chapin Street, in the city of South Bend, Indiana, the Clerk tendered
<br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Ba'i)d Tribune and the Tri
<br />County News on May 14 and May 21, 1971, which were read and found to be
<br />sufficient.
<br />No bids having been received, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried
<br />that the City Attorney be permitted to negotiate a sale of sa-id property
<br />on the open market.
