375'� <br />5/3/71 <br />Monthly rental and maintenance charges ------------ $13,280.00 <br />Total yearly rental and maintenance <br />charges -------------------------- $159,360.00 <br />One time transportation charge---- 1,100.00 $160,460.00 <br />Based on 7 year lease. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the. <br />Police Department and their consultant for study and recommendation to <br />the Board. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND MEETING <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, permission was granted <br />by the Board, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, <br />for Lieutenant James Sweitzer to attend a meeting of the National Safety <br />Council in Indianapolis, Indiana, May 11 through May 14, 1971, and to use <br />Mechanical Vehicle #34 for transportation. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - UNIFORM BIDS <br />pa <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of purchasing uniforms <br />for 1971 for the Police Department was referred to the City Controller and <br />the Purchasing Director for recommendation to the Board. <br />APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - JOSEPH KRONBERGER <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, upon the recommendation <br />of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the Board approved the appointment <br />of Joseph Kronberger as a special police officer while employed by the <br />Spartan Department Store. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up; <br />1608 Prairie Avenue. Mr. Liszewski reported that as of April 30, 1971, <br />little improvement has been made in the cleaning up of the premises but that <br />some effort has been made. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the mat- <br />ter was continued four weeks, and the Sub -Standards Department was directed <br />to keep the property under surveillance. <br />507 Wenger Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the owner of the property at 507 <br />Wenger Street has authorized its demolition. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to seek bids <br />for the demolition of the structure. <br />Request for sub -standard property owners to appear before the Board 5/11,/71 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />the Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear before the <br />Board on May 17, 1971, in reference to the following sub -standard properties; <br />Roosevelt and Betty Quinn 424 S. Illinois Street <br />Sophia Kluska 129 S. Logan Street <br />Heirs of the Estate of Gretchen <br />C. Hancock 1063 LaSalle Court <br />WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT - MONTHLY REPORTS <br />The Reports of Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, for the months of March and <br />April, 1971, were reviewed and ordered filed. <br />
