Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the. Police Department and their consultant for study and recommendation to the Board. POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND MEETING Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, permission was granted by the Board, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, for Lieutenant James Sweitzer to attend a meeting of the National Safety Council in Indianapolis, Indiana, May 11 through May 14, 1971, and to use Mechanical Vehicle #34 for transportation. POLICE DEPARTMENT - UNIFORM BIDS pa Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of purchasing uniforms for 1971 for the Police Department was referred to the City Controller and the Purchasing Director for recommendation to the Board. APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - JOSEPH KRONBERGER Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the Board approved the appointment of Joseph Kronberger as a special police officer while employed by the Spartan Department Store. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up; 1608 Prairie Avenue. Mr. Liszewski reported that as of April 30, 1971, little improvement has been made in the cleaning up of the premises but that some effort has been made. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the mat- ter was continued four weeks, and the Sub -Standards Department was directed to keep the property under surveillance. 507 Wenger Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the owner of the property at 507 Wenger Street has authorized its demolition. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to seek bids for the demolition of the structure. Request for sub -standard property owners to appear before the Board 5/11,/71 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of the Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear before the Board on May 17, 1971, in reference to the following sub -standard properties; Roosevelt and Betty Quinn 424 S. Illinois Street Sophia Kluska 129 S. Logan Street Heirs of the Estate of Gretchen C. Hancock 1063 LaSalle Court WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT - MONTHLY REPORTS The Reports of Bert S.
