3/29/71 <br />of bidder (Indiana State Board of Accounts Form No, 96 -a).. The bid was as <br />follows: <br />Division B - Total bid $96,869.30 <br />Division C - Total bid $42,577.20 $139,446.50 <br />Completion time - 150 calendar days. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the bids were referred <br />to the consulting engineer for study and recommendation to the Board. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - RETIREMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the retirement of Joseph W. Szekendi <br />from the South Bend Fire Department was accepted and approved by the Board <br />upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat, effective March 24, <br />1971. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />�-i <br />The application of Eugene J. Stachowiak for appointment to the Fire Depart- <br />ment was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for. <br />further processing. <br />Q <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS <br />The applications of Barbara Elaine Engle and Donald J. Wharton for appoint- <br />ment to the Police Department were filed with the Board and referred to <br />the Personnel Director for further processing. <br />MOBILE CLASSROOM - PUBLIC SERVICE CAREERS <br />A letter from Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert advising the Police Community <br />Relations Trailer has been made available to the Public Service Careers <br />office for a mobile classroom was read and ordered filed. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND NARCOTICS SCHOOL <br />Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, Corporal Forest Milbourn, <br />upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, was authorized <br />to attend the Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs School conducted by the Law <br />Enforcement Training Board, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, <br />April 12 to April 23, 1971. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Richard B. Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board <br />and the following matters were taken up. <br />1225 N. Olive Street. Mr. Liszewski reported this property closed and <br />partially cleaned up. It was moved, seconded and carried that the matter <br />of 1225 N. Olive Street be continued indefinitely but kept under surveillance <br />of the Sub -Standards Department. <br />835 S. Marietta Street. Mr. L szewski stated this property open and not <br />cleaned up as of this morning. It was moved, seconded and carried that the <br />Sub -Standards Director be authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the <br />premises at 835 S. Marietta Street. <br />613-615 N. Hill Street, Mr. Liszewski reported as of this morning this <br />property remains open and nothing has been done toward tearing down the <br />accessory building and cleaning up the premises. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids <br />for demolition of .the property at 613-615 N. Hill Street. <br />816 E. Colfax Avenue. Upon motion made,.seconded and carried, the Sub - <br />Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the <br />property at 816 E. Colfax Avenue. <br />
