Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the bids were referred to the consulting engineer for study and recommendation to the Board. FIRE DEPARTMENT - RETIREMENT Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the retirement of Joseph W. Szekendi from the South Bend Fire Department was accepted and approved by the Board upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat, effective March 24, 1971. FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION �-i The application of Eugene J. Stachowiak for appointment to the Fire Depart- ment was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for. further processing. Q POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS The applications of Barbara Elaine Engle and Donald J. Wharton for appoint- ment to the Police Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing. MOBILE CLASSROOM - PUBLIC SERVICE CAREERS A letter from Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert advising the Police Community Relations Trailer has been made available to the Public Service Careers office for a mobile classroom was read and ordered filed. POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND NARCOTICS SCHOOL Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, Corporal Forest Milbourn, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, was authorized to attend the Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs School conducted by the Law Enforcement Training Board, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, April 12 to April 23, 1971. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION Richard B. Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up. 1225 N. Olive Street. Mr. Liszewski reported this property closed and partially cleaned up. It was moved, seconded and carried that the matter of 1225 N. Olive Street be continued indefinitely but kept under surveillance of the Sub -Standards Department. 835 S. Marietta Street. Mr. L szewski stated this property open and not cleaned up as of this morning. It was moved, seconded and carried that the Sub -Standards Director be authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the premises at 835 S. Marietta Street. 613-615 N. Hill Street, Mr. Liszewski reported as of this morning this property remains open and nothing has been done toward tearing down the accessory building and cleaning up the premises. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of .the property at 613-615 N. Hill Street. 816 E. Colfax Avenue. Upon motion made,.seconded and carried, the Sub - Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the property at 816 E. Colfax Avenue.
