Section EUREKA 3 STAR 5" soft suction hose <br />coupled $230.00 per section <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was referred to the Fire De- <br />partment for study and recommendation to the Board. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of Gerald James Kwiatkowski for appointment to the South Bend <br />Fire Department was filed with the.Bsbard and referred to the Personnel <br />Director for further processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of John Joseph Pickens for appointment to the South Bend <br />Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel <br />Director for further processing. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamsen, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />1818 S. St. Joseph Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />matter of 1818 S. St. -Joseph Street was continued one week at the request <br />of the Sub -Standards Director. <br />1011 S. Rush Street, The Sub -Standards Director reports this building open <br />and vandalized; that the First Federal Savings and -Loan Association has asked <br />that the matter be continued until their next Board meeting December 14, <br />1970, at which time they will advise whether the structure will be re- <br />habilitated or torn down. Upon motion madg, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the matter was continued three weeks. Benjamin Burns, 743 N. Elmer Street, <br />owner of the property across the alley, objected to the continuation. <br />603 E. Kease . Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter of 603 E. Keasey Street was continued one week for attorney Lang to <br />get in touch with the .owners who live in.Florida. <br />205 N. Walnut. The Sub -Standards Director reports this building has been <br />posted as unfit for human habitation; that a second fire occurred there <br />Saturday morning; and that he understands the owner does not intend to <br />rehabilitate the building. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for the de- <br />molition of the structure at 205 N. Walnut Street. <br />122 S. Laurel Street. Max Cohen, father of the owner, and Joseph Wein, <br />son-in-law of Max Cohen, III Tuxedo Drive, South Bend, Indiana, appeared <br />before the Board on behalf of the owner Joseph Kahlnick. Mr. Wein stated <br />the owner intends to repair the downstairs of the structure. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter pertaining to 122 S. <br />Laurel Street was continued four weeks on condition that the structure be <br />kept closed; and the Sub -Standards Director was requested to keep the <br />property under surveillance. <br />509 W. Monroe Street. Max Cohen, owner, was present. The Sub -Standards <br />Director reports this building unoccupied and presently closed, and that <br />it has been posted as unfit for human habitation. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the matter of 509 W. Monroe�Street was continued <br />indefinitely and the Sub -Standards Director was requested` to keep the <br />property under surveillance. . <br />
