It November 30, 1970 A regular meeting.of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M., on November 30, 1970, with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. BIDS OPENED FOR ABANDONED VEHICLES This being the date set for receiving bids for approximately 500 abandoned vehicles, the Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on November 6 and November 13, 1970, which were read and found to be sufficient. The following bids were received: Bush Auto Salvage, by Leonard Bush 58505 Linden Road South Bend, Indiana -------------------------- $2,500.00 Decatur Salvage, Inc., by David Ehinger North on Highway #27, Box 133 Decatur, Indiana, 46733--------------------- $2,542.80 Falo Auto Parts R. R. #1, Box 147 Buchanan, Michigan--------------------------- $ 3.50 per car OK Auto Salvage, Inc. R. R. #3, U. S. #20 Elkhart, Indiana, 46517--------------------- $ 4.25 per car South Bend Baling & Iron Co., Inc. by Herbert Alberts 1420 S. Walnut St. South Bend, Indiana, 46621------------------ $5,555.00 Over 500 vehicles, plus $11.11 per vehicle in excess of 500. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. BIDS OPENED FOR FIRE HOSE This being the date set for receiving bids for fire hose for the Fire Depart- ment, the Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on November 13 and November 20, 1970, which were read and found to be sufficient. The only bid received was from Midwest Fire and Safety Equipment Company, Inc., 1605 Prospect Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, which was accompanied by a non collusion affidavit and bid bond in the amount of 109% of the bid. The bid was as follows: 2000 ft. more or less bi-lateral DACROFLEX #50DX fire hose 22" size, all Dacron $ 2.18 2000 ft. more or less 22" fire hose bi-lateral ASTRO brand with bi-poly dacron cords $ 2.48 2000 ft. more or less MIDWEST 600 22" all dacron fire hose $ 1.54 2000 ft. more or less EUREKA 3 STAR brand 2'—z" hose $ 1.52 14 20' lengths 3" hose bi-lateral DACROFLEX #50DX fire hose all dacron with 3" to 21" 3-piece reducer couplings E,. 14 20' lengths 3" hose bi-lateral ASTRO brand with bi-poly dacron cords $ 88.95 per section $98.00 per section 20' lengths 3" hose MIDWEST 600 all dacron $ 64.80 per section 1
