51 <br />11/23/70 <br />1 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - TRAFFIC REPORT FOR OCTOBER, WO <br />Police Department traffic report for the month of October, 1970, was reviewed <br />and ordered filed. <br />REQUEST TO RIDE WITH POLICE PATROL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, Chief of Police Loren <br />M. Bussert was granted permission, at his discretion, to authorize Alan <br />L. Waters of the University of South Dakota, to ride with Police patrol <br />cars, upon the signing of a waiver of liability on the part of the City of <br />South Bend. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES DEPARTMENT - OCTOBER REPORT <br />The monthly report for October, 1970, of Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, <br />was reviewed and ordered filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up; <br />133-135 E. Keasey Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition <br />of the structure at 133-135 E. Keasey Street. <br />720 E— Wenger Street. Beverly Baskin (alias Beverly Ball) did not appear <br />as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter <br />pertaining to 720 E. Wenger Street was continued one week to permit the Sub - <br />Standards Director to personally contact Beverly Baskin to determine what <br />her intentions are in regard to this property. <br />530 E. Wenger Street. Neither Wayne W. nor,Glenna O'Dell Hilton appeared <br />as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter <br />of 530 E. Wenger Street was continued one week at the request of the Sub - <br />Standards Director. <br />223 S. Chapin Street. James N. Baker appeared before the Board as, -.requested, <br />and stated he intends to rehabilitate the property. Upon motion made,. <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the matter pertaining to 223 S. Chapin <br />Street was continued one week to permit the owner an opportunity to obtain <br />bids for renovation of the property. <br />709 N. Hill Street. Edgar F. Schafer did not appear as requested. The Sub - <br />Standards Director reported the owner has advised he does not intend to re- <br />habilitate the property. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub - <br />Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure <br />at 709 N. Hill Street. <br />2501 W. Linden Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of <br />2501 W. Linden Street was continued two weeks. <br />1282 S. Laurel Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter <br />of 12 z S. Laurel Street was continued one week. <br />2018 S. Michigan Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter <br />of 2018 S. Michigan Street was continued two weeks. <br />1109 W. Colfax Avenue. The Sub -Standards Director reported the owner William F. Scott <br />has obtained a permit for the rehabilitation of the property at 1109 W. Colfax Avenue, <br />and the Clerk of the Board reported Mr. Scott has deposited $ 5.00 for the benefit <br />of the low bidder, Midwest Demolition Company. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the matter was continued indefinitely and the Sub -Standards <br />Director was requested to keep the property under surveillance. <br />2116 Western Avenue. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter of 2116 Western Avenue was continued two weeks at the request of the <br />Sub -Standards Director. <br />
