November 23, 1970 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M.,,on November 23, 1970, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS OPENED - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3323 - HUMBOLDT STREET <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of Humboldt <br />Street, from Elmer to Huey, by constructing a Class C pavement with curbs, <br />the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />TO County News on November 6 and November 13, 1970, which were read and <br />found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were received: <br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Co., Inc., 2526 W. 6th Street, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was <br />accompanied by a bid bond of 5% of the bid. Form 96-a (bidder's financial <br />statement) is on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />Class C, Type 1-A $7,634.50 <br />Completion time - 225 dais. <br />Rieth Riley Construction Co., Inc., P. 0. Box 775, South Bend, Indiana, 46624. <br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a <br />bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid. Kwasneski as a special police officer at St. Joseph <br />High School and of Robert W. Miller as a special police officer at Ayr -Way <br />Stores. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for the promotion of <br />officer Armando Garcia to the rank of sergeant, as coordinator of the <br />Neighborhood Laison Program, effective November 16, 1970. <br />RECOMMENDATION FOR AIR CONDITIONED POLICE PATROL CARS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the report of the Police <br />Department on its study and analysis of the desirability of using air con- <br />ditioned patrol cars was referred to the Engineering Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
