<br />CITY ENGINEER'S RECOMMENDATION
<br />ORDER FOR PRELIMINARY PLANS
<br />PETITION TO PAVE ALLEY BETWEEN LASALLE AND McKINLEY, FROM TWYCKENHAM TO GREENLAWN
<br />Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, files with the Board his recommendation that
<br />the petition of Maurice Goldman and 14 others filed with the Board September 8,
<br />1970, for the pavement of the alley between LaSalle and McKinley Streets, from
<br />Twyckenham to Esther Street, and the petition of Ralph A. Newman and 10 others,
<br />filed with the Board on September 28, 1970, for the pavement of the alley
<br />between LaSalle and McKinley Streets, from Esther to Greeniawn, be granted.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the City Engineer and directed Clyde E. Williams and
<br />Associates, Inc., consulting engineer, to prepare preliminary plans, estimates
<br />and improvement resolution for the improvement of the alley between LaSalle
<br />and McKinley Streets, from Twyckenham Drive to Esther Street and from Estherl:
<br />Street to freenlawn.
<br />CHANGE ORDER - CHIPPEWA AVENUE AND MAIN STREET IMPROVEMENT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved and
<br />ordered the following change in the Chippewa Avenue and Main Street improve-
<br />ment:
<br />Construct new curbs along Chippewa Avenue from Station 1 + 42
<br />east to the existing curbs on the radius at Michigan Street.
<br />Widen the pavement to 49 feet back to back of the curbs.
<br />at an increased cost of $1,990.90.
<br />LEAF PICK-UP BY SANITATION DEPARTMENT APPROVED
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the Engineering Department, and concurrence of the
<br />Sanitation Department and the Street Department, for a program of leaf
<br />pick up this fall along with garbage pick up if the leaves are placed in
<br />plastic bags and put out with the garbage pick up.
<br />MODEL NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAMS
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board accepted and
<br />approved a "Police Neighborhood Liaison Officer Program" and an "Expanded
<br />City Refuse Collection Service Progran," as presented by Charles F. Lennon,
<br />Jr., Director of the Model Neighborhood Planning Agency. The purpose of such
<br />programs being to combat crime and delinquency and to pick up trash in the
<br />Model Cities area.
<br />RENEWAL OF LEASES FOR FIRE STATIONS #5 AND #7 - A.C.T.I.O.N. INC.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />newal of leases for Fire Stations #5 and #7 with A.C.T.I.O.N., Inc., at an
<br />annual rental of $3400.00 each-, payable in the form of an "in -kind" credit
<br />each month equal to 1/12 of the annual rental, said leasescommencing October 1,
<br />1970, for the period of one year, with the privilege of renewal.
<br />REQUEST_ O REPAIR 1.6AO'BLOCK OF COLUMB IA STREET
<br />A petition signed by H. J. Holmes and 51 others for the repair of Columbia
<br />Street, in the 1600 block,upon motion made, seconded and carried, was re-
<br />ferred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study and recommendation.
<br />ONE WAY TRAFFIC APPROVED - 100 BLOCK S. ST. JOSEPH STREET,
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the Traffic Director to make the 100 block of South St.
<br />Joseph Street "one way" traffic north -bound to facilitate traffic In and out
<br />of the Municipal parking garage at Jefferson and St. Joseph Street.
