<br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE IVY ROAD UNIVERSITY OF
<br />NOTRE DAME .
<br />Area Plan Commission recommends favorably the vacation of a portion of Ivy
<br />Road, running north from the north right of way line of South Bend Avenue
<br />to the south right of way line of Edison Road, Upon motion made, seconded
<br />and carried, the petition was referred to the City Engineer for the
<br />preparation of a vacation resolution.
<br />STEAM HEATING RATE INCREASE - INDIANA AND MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY
<br />i Upon motion made, seconded and carried, notice of a rate increase in steam
<br />heating by Indiana and Michigan Electric Company, 220 W. Colfax Avenue,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, under date of July 22, 1970, until discontinuance of
<br />such steam heating service on June 1, 1972, was referred to the City Engineer.
<br />REQUEST TO PLACE TABLES ON DOWNTOWN SIDEWALKS - JOSEPH SZALAY
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Joseph Szalay,
<br />111 E. Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, for the "Support our President
<br />r-i for Peace" organization to place card tablessj holding literatures on the
<br />JO sidewalks in the downtown area was denied as being in violation of a city
<br />ordinance.

<br />PARADE REQUEST - SOUTH BEND SHRINE CLUB (1971)
<br />Upon -motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the change in
<br />date for the Shrine Parade from June 26, 1971, to June 12, 1971, as requested.
<br />REQUEST TO ERECT TENT"- RIVER PARK LIONS CLUB
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of the
<br />River Park Lions Club, by D. C. Reamer, 1422 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to erect a tent on the northeast corner of 25th Street and Mishawaka
<br />Avenue on September 24, 1970 , for their chicken barbecue dinner on September
<br />26, 1970, subject to inspection of the tent by the Fire Prevention Bureau,
<br />the approval of the Building Commissioner, and on condition that evidence is
<br />provided to the Board of proper insurance to save the City harmless.
<br />REQUEST TO ERECT TENT - BETHEL TEMPLE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />Bethel Temple, by Rev. James Murphy, P. 0. Box 12, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />erect a tent at the southeast corner of Ireland Road and Miami Streets for
<br />tent meetings to be held August 9, 1970'; through August 23, 1970, subject
<br />to inspection of the tent by the Fire Prevention Bureau, the approval of the
<br />Building Commissioner, and on condition that evidence is provided to the
<br />Board of proper insurance to save the City harmless.
<br />STREET LIGHT BUDGET REPORT
<br />Street light budget report of Ralph Wadzinski, Assistant Traffic Director,
<br />was reviewed by the Board and ordered filed.
<br />TRAFFIC REGULATIONS APPROVED - 29TH STREET
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation
<br />of the Traffic Engineering Department for the installation of two 90 minute
<br />time limit" signs and posts on the west side of 29th street alongside 2821 Misha-
<br />waka Avenue.
<br />PARKING RESTRICTIONS APPROVED - MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation
<br />of the Traffic Engineering Department for the following:
<br />"No parking - Loading zone" - for a distance of 302 feet on the
<br />east side of N. Main Street, beginning at the intersection with
<br />Navarre Street.
<br />'Reserve for "Ambulance only" - approximately 80 feet directly
<br />in front of the emergency entrance.
