<br />CONTRACT WITH ARCHITECT SIGNED - DRAINAGE FACILITIES AND STREET IMPROVEMENT
<br />CHIPPEWA AT MAIN
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved and
<br />executed an agreement (Form 97-A of the Indiana State`Board of Accounts)
<br />with Engineering Planning Services, 'Inc., consulting engineers, 1520 N. Main
<br />Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, for professional services in the matter of the
<br />construction of drainage facilities and street improvement on Chippewa Avenue
<br />at Main Street, in the city of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />POTAWATOMI PARK DISPLAY BARN
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of -awarding contract for
<br />construction of a display barn for Potawatomi Park was further continued one
<br />week.
<br />COMMUNICATION FROM CITY ENGINEER
<br />A copy of report of the City Engineer under date of June 26, 1970, to members
<br />of the Common Council in reference to street paving was ordered filed.
<br />INDIANA.'; DELUXE CAB 4CORP. - APPLICATION FOR -CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE
<br />AND NECESSITY
<br />Application for certificate of public convenience and necessity for the operation
<br />of taxicabs for hire on the Streets of South Bend, Indiana, was filed with the
<br />Board and, upon motion made, seconded and carried, referred to the City Con-
<br />troller for review and recommendation.
<br />INDIANA CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCY - IN -KIND RENT FOR JUNE, 1970
<br />Indiana Criminal Justice Agency reports in -kind rent of $150.00 for the month of
<br />June; 1970, for 1427 County City Building (exchanged for Stowe -Davis executive
<br />desk and chair to the office of the Deputy Controller).
<br />REQUEST - TO MOVE PORTABLE SCHOOL UNITS - LEWIS MITCHLEN
<br />Lewis Mitchlen appeared before the Board and requested permission to move three
<br />portable school units (from Jefferson School to Clay, Franklin to Hamilton and
<br />Linden School to Hamilton). Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously
<br />carried, permission was granted for the moving of such portable school units
<br />over the city streets on condition that the routing be worked out with the
<br />Traffic Director.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE CHAPIN STREET FOR ST. ANNE FESTIVAL
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Mrs. Thomas Arch, 823 Sherrill Street, South Bend, Indiana for Chapin
<br />Street, from Calvert Street to Bruce Street, to be closed between the hours of
<br />3:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M., on July 18, 1970, during the annual St. Anne festival
<br />of the Our Lady of Hungary Church, providing proper insurance to hold the City
<br />harmless is obtained.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE (1971) - SOUTH BEND SHRINE CLUB, INC.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re—
<br />quest of John R. Kagel for the South Bend Shrine Club, Inc., 107 Lincolnway East,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, to hold a hold a Shrine parade in the downtown area of
<br />South Bend on Saturday, June 26, 1971.
<br />REQUEST TO BLOCK MAIN STREET - FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH
<br />Upon motion;made,'seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of Frank W. Edgerton for the First Christian Church, 320 S. Main Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, for permission to block South Main Street, between Wayne
<br />Street and Western Avenue, on Sunday, July 12, 197.0, between the hours of 8:30
<br />A.M. and 10:00 A.M., in connection with the march of the congregation to their
<br />new Church location at 1101 E. Jefferson Boulevard and granted permission for
<br />northbound traffic within the block during this time.
