11� <br />6/29/70 <br />305 Wenger. Mr. Adamson reported the garage doors have been removed and the <br />premises cleaned up. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter was continued .indefinitely, and the Sub -Standards Director was re- <br />quested to keep the matter under surveillance. <br />132-E. Paris. Mr. Adamson reported contractor John Vanek has not complied with <br />the conditions set June 22, 1970, for award of contract to him as the low <br />bidder for demolition of the structure at 132 E. Paris Street. Thereupon, it <br />was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the tentative award of con- <br />tract to John Vanek for demolition of the structure at 132 E. Paris Street <br />be cancelled and contract be awarded to Julius O'Neal for demolition of the <br />structure at 132 E. Paris Street on his bid of $749.00. <br />702 W. Colfax Avenue. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the <br />structures at 702 W. Colfax Avenue. <br />2405 Kenwood Avenue. Mr. Adamson reported this property sold and the new owner <br />intends to rehabilitate it, and that the premises have been cleaned up and <br />are closed. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter <br />was continued indefinitely and the Sub -Standards -Director was requested to <br />keep the property under surveillance. <br />Request for property owners to appear before Board 7/13/70 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re- <br />quest of the Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear before <br />the Board on July 13, 1970, to show cause, if any they have, why the following <br />structures should not be demolished: <br />'Frank Bilello 1007 N. Notre Dame <br />St. Joseph County Commissioners 1815 S. Ironwood Dr. <br />Mrs. Anna Glaser, Executor, Estate <br />of Lena Sofan 5072 S. William Street <br />Lillian Cramer 408 E. Paris <br />St. Joseph County Commissioners 1217 E. Bissell <br />And the Clerk was directed to so notify said persons by certified mail.. <br />COMPLAINT - CONDITION OF PROPERTY AT 922 E. ALTGELD STREET <br />L. D. Acheson and 22 others filed with the Board a complaint as to the <br />deteriorated condition of the property at 922 E. Altgeld Street. <br />Mr. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, reported his Department has had a file <br />on this property since 1967 and that.steps are being taken to remove the <br />structure. <br />COMPLAINT - CONDITION OF PROPERTY AT 622 LELAND <br />Dr. Louis How, St. Jrseph County Health Director, appeared before the Board <br />in reference to the unsanitary condition existing at 622 Leland Avenue created <br />by septic tanks in this area. Mr. and Mr.s Robert M. Aldridge, 637 Beale <br />Street, and Walter Dorn, 627 Beale Street, South Bend, Indiana, also appeared <br />before the Board to protest the unsanitary conditions in the neighborhood <br />resulting from septic tanks. The matter, already before the Board, is being <br />further investigated. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES - REQUEST TO ATTEND CONFERENCE SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH <br />The request of the City Sealer for authority to attend the 55th National <br />conference on Weights and Measures in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 13 to 17, <br />1970, came before the Board. <br />Mr. Bickel, City Controller, moved that since there is insufficient money in <br />the appropriate account of the Weights and Measures Department and insufficient <br />time for a transfer of funds in that Department by July 13 for such trip, <br />that Account H-213 of the Board of Works' budget be used to make up the <br />shortage necessary for such trip; and further moved that the City Sealer be <br />authorized to attend such convention. The motion was seconded and carried. <br />Mr. Taylor abstained from voting. <br />
