Zurat and the Purchasing Director. <br />e-1 COMMUNICATION FROM INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY - STEAM HEAT <br />�C1 DISCONTINUANCE <br />A letter under date of June 26, 1970, from the Indiana and Michigan Electric <br />Company advising permission granted by the Indiana Public Service Commission <br />for the discontinuance of its steam heating system on June 1, 1970, was <br />ordered filed. <br />FOOT PATROL - WEST WASHINGTON AVENUE <br />The report of Chief of Police Loren M. 8ussert in reference to steps taken <br />by the Department in response to the complaint of Felix L. Owsley, Sr. <br />was read and ordered filed. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE ALLEY - RADECKI ART GALLERIES <br />The request of Roman J. Radecki, Radecki Art Galleries, 721 E. Jefferson <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, on June 25, 1970, for permission to close <br />the alley between St. Louis and St. Peter Streets, on the west side of 721 <br />E. Jefferson Boulevard, from 10:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on June 27, 19'70, <br />approved by the Board on June 25, 1970, is hereby confirmed and made a part <br />of these minutes. <br />TAXICAB STAND REQUEST DENIED - INDIANA CAB COMPANY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, upon recommendation of <br />the Traffic Engineering Department, the request of the Indiana Cab Company <br />for a taxicab stand in the 2600 block of West Washington Avenue was denied <br />for the reason that industrial traffic (Bendix) occupies the roadway with <br />both trucks and other vehicles causing traffic congestion. Off street park- <br />ing facilities are to be provided by South Shore Railroad. <br />TAXICAB STAND REQUEST DENIED - COURTESY CAB COMPANY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, upon recommendation of <br />the Traffic Engineering Department, the request of the Courtesy Cab Company <br />for an "on street" taxicab stand at the new South Shore Station was denied <br />for the reason that industrial traffic (Bendix) occupies the roadway with <br />both trucks and other vehicles causing traffic congestion. Off street park- <br />ing facilities are to be provided by the South Shore Railroad. <br />TAXICABS - CERTIFICATES OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Clerk is directed <br />to send to the Indiana Cab Company and the Courtesy Cab Company -applications, <br />to be filed with the Board, for certificates of public convenience and <br />necessity for the operation of taxicabs for hire on the streets of South Bend, <br />Indiana. <br />
