6/2Z/70 <br />RECOMMENDATION - UNIFORMS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for award of contract <br />on uniforms for the Police Department under bids opened June 15, 1970, was <br />reviewed by the Board. Award of contract was deferred for receipt of <br />recommendation from the Purchasing Director. <br />APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - JOHN E. CRAWFORD <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />appointment of John E. Crawford as a special police officer, in the employ <br />of Gilbert's Men's Clothing Store, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police <br />Loren M. Bussert. <br />TRAFFIC REPORT FOR MAY, 1970 <br />Police Traffic report for May, 1970, was reviewed by the Board and ordered <br />filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up; <br />314 E. Keasey Street. John Kapsalis, owner of the property, appeared before <br />the Board as requested and stated he was willing for the City to do whatever <br />it felt should be done. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the matter was continued one week for the Sub -Standards Department to notify <br />the contract buyer, Cleveland Brown, to appear before the Board. <br />418-420-422 S. Taylor Street. Max Cohen, owner, appeared before the Board as <br />requested but had to leave before his matter was reached. Mr. Adamson reported <br />Mr. Cohen intends to demolish the building himself. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the matter was continued indefinitely, and the Sub - <br />Standards Director was requested to keep the matter under surveillance. <br />621 S. Rush Street. Attorney J. Chester Allen, Jr., appeared on behalf of <br />the estate of Joseph C. Brown, owner of this property, but had to leave before <br />this matter was reached. Mr. Adamson reported Mr. Allen states there is no <br />money in the estate; that they are trying to sell the property and would like <br />an extension of time in which to do so. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the matter was continued two weeks. <br />1325 Liston Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, this <br />matter was continued four weeks for the owners to repair the building. <br />1506 S. Kemble. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, this matter <br />was continued two weeks at the request of the Sub -Standards Director. <br />2202 Pleasant Street. Mr. Adamson reported the owner intends to demolish this <br />property himself. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter was continued indefinitely, and the Sub -Standards Director was requested <br />to keep the matter under surveillance. <br />720 George Street. Mr. Adamson reports the new owner of the property intends <br />to rehabilitate the structure. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the matter was continued indefinitely and the Sub -Standards Director <br />was requested to keep the matter under surveillance. <br />1613 S. Leer Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />this matter was continued four weeks at the request of the Sub -Standards <br />Director. <br />702 Olive Street. Mr. Adamson reports this structure is being removed under <br />private contract. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter was continued indefinitely and the Sub -Standards Director was requested <br />to keep the matter under surveillance. <br />2405 Kenwood. Mr. Adamson reported nothing has been heard from the owners of <br />the property, and that the occupants of the premises have been relocated. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued two <br />weeks for the owners to appear before the Board. <br />
