<br />A regular meeting of the Board'of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:40
<br />A.M., with all rpembers present.
<br />BIDS OPENED - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3311 - ALLEY BETWEEN HOLLYWOOD
<br />PLACE AND INGLEWOOD PLACE
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of the alley
<br />between Hollywood Place and Inglewood Place, from Woodlawn to Oakwood, by construct-
<br />ing a Class C, Type 1, concrete pavement, the Clerk tendered proofs of publi-
<br />cation which were read aloud and found to be proper.
<br />The following bids were received:
<br />Hoekstra Concrete Co., Inc., 2211; Bergan.Street, South Bend, Indiana. Non
<br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a
<br />bid bond and Form 96-a (bidder's financial statement). The total bid was in
<br />the amount of $11,421.50.
<br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Co., Inc., 2526 W. 6th Street, Mishawaka,
<br />Indiana, 46544. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid
<br />was accompanied by a bid bond of 5%. The total bid was in the amount of
<br />$11,690.50. Completion time - 70 calendar days.
<br />Rieth Riley Construction Co., Inc., P. 0. Box 775, South Bend, Indiana. Non
<br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a bid
<br />bond of 5% of the bid. The total bid was in the amount of $12,044.00.
<br />Completion time - 60 days.
<br />Valley Construction Company, Inc., R. R. #7, Lafayette, Indiana. Non collusion
<br />affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a bid bond in
<br />the amount of 5% of the total bid. The total bid was in the amount of
<br />$11,340.00. Completion time - August 31, 1970.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the bids were referred to
<br />Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc., for review and recommendation.
<br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND MEETING 7/13/70
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of Fire
<br />Chief Joseph L. Zurat for Captain William T. Schmidt to attend the annual confer-
<br />ence of the International Fire Service Training Association July 13 to 17, 1970,
<br />at Oklahoma State University, Stilwater, Oklahoma, was approved.
<br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO WITHDRAW AS POLICE CADET
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of Leonard
<br />Szymanski to withdraw as a police department cadet as of 6/16/70 uas
<br />was approved.
<br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THREE -WHEEL MOTORCYCLES
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for permission'to advertise for
<br />four (more or less) three -wheel motorcycles. July 6, 1970, was set as the
<br />time for receiving bids and the Clerk was directed to give notice by
<br />publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on June 26 and
<br />July 3, 1970.
<br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR RADIOS FOR THREE -WHEEL
<br />MOTORCYCLES
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for permission to advertise for
<br />four (more or less) radios for three -wheel motorcycles. July 6, 1970, was
<br />set as the time for receiving bids and -the Clerk was directed to give notice
<br />by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on June 26
<br />and July 3, 1n70.
