MENTAL - - - - No mental deficiency, abnormal nervous manifestation or abnormal reflexes. - SKIN - - - - - - No -severe or disfiguring skin disease. X-RAYS - - - Chest must be normal. SEROLOGY- - - - Must be negative." APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for appointment to the South Bend Police Depart- ment were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: James Alan Walsh Michael Clyde Waite Vernon Wayne Doyle Donald Verle Daily Dennis Gene Jacobsen Frank L. Breden APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the appointment of the following applicants as special police officers was approved by the Board: Nathan E. Jones - employed by Consolidated Negro Contractors , Stanley Lee Plump - employed by Consolidated Negro Contractors POLICE DEPARTMENT - STATISTICAL REPORT Statistical report of the Police Department for May, 1970, was ordered filed. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up. 736 Frances Street. Wallace Mitchell, Jr., son of the deceased owner of the property, appeared before the Board and stated that he has secured the house and cleaned up the premises, and that he will arrange with Mr. Adamson for him to inspect the interior. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued indefinitely and the Sub -Standards Director was requested to keep the property under surveillance. 1137 S. Franklin Street. Mr. Nietch appeared before the Board and stated the property is owned by his mother who is incapacitated, and that it is his intention to tear the house down. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued four weeks for the owner to demolish the structure, with the understanding that it will be taken down within that time. 2227 Smith Street. Mr. Adamson reported this property in extremely bad condition. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Sub -Standards Director to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 2227 Smith Street. 1223 S. Carroll Street. Mr. Adamson reported this structure removed by the owner. 1325 Liston Street. Mr. Adamson reported this building has been posted as unfit for human habitation; that it is open and badly.deteriorated. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was continued one week to permit the Sub -Standards Department time to contact the owners.
