5/18/70 <br />Mrs. Bender stated she had asked the land contract buyer to be present today; <br />that the owners had little in the property; and they understood the land con- <br />tract buyer intends to repair the building. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the matter was continued one week for the Sub -Standards <br />Director to contact the land contract buyers, Virgil and Helen Turner, 17160 <br />Cherokee Drive, R. R.#1: Granger, Indiana. <br />625 S. Columbia Street. Freda Marnocha appeared before the Board as requested. <br />Mrs. Marnocha stated she has no money to fix up the property; that she lives <br />here with her daughter. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the matter was continued four weeks to permit relocation of the occupants. <br />720 George Street. Francis T. Sriver, 1224 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, appeared before the Board in response to notice to Keith and Mary <br />Zeider (his son-in-law and daughter) and stated he is the owner of the property <br />and is selling it on a land contract. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the matter was continued two weeks for Mr. Sriver to <br />conclude the sale with the new land contract buyer. <br />702 S. Olive Street. Mr. Adamson reported the owner of this property has ob- <br />tained a permit for rehabilitation of the premises. Mr. Adamson reported this property is to be rehabilitated. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued <br />five weeks, and the Sub -Standards Director was requested to keep the property <br />under surveillance. <br />83,8 Marietta Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the <br />structure at 838 Marietta Street. <br />1015 E. Cedar Street. Mr. Adamson reported the new owner intends to rehabilitate <br />this property. The motion was made, seconded and carried to continue the matter <br />indefinitely. And the Sub -Standards Director was requested to keep the property <br />under surveillance. <br />661 LaPorte Avenue. Donald Clements, owner of this property, appeared before <br />the Board. It was moved seconded and unanimously carried that contract be <br />awarded on bids received May 4, 1970, for the demolition of the garage structure <br />at 661 LaPorte Avenue. <br />Mr. Clements indicated he wished to taken the building down, and was advised <br />that in that event he should deposit $25.00 with the Clerk of the Board for the <br />use of the low bidder to the City on May 4, 1970, and was also advised that he <br />must obtain a demolition permit and must clean up the premises by May 19, 1970, <br />or that the demolition would be done by the City. <br />721 W. Wayne. the owner appeared before the Board and stated that A & J Demolition <br />Company will demolish the structure. It was moved, seconded and carried to <br />continue the matter one week for the owner to provide the Board with evidence <br />that the property is being demolished. The owner was advised that if a.permit <br />has not been issued within the week, the Board will authorize bids to be taken <br />for demolition by the City. <br />841-843-8432 Bendix. Attorney Edward Olczak appeared before the Board on be- <br />half of an estate, the owner of this property, and stated that the property <br />is being sold and.the buyer intends to demolish it himself. <br />844-S. Liberty Street. This property and 841-843-8432 Bendix are adjoining <br />properties, in the same estate, being purchased by the same purchaser who <br />intends to demolish both of them. <br />Since bids have been received for demolition of both properties by the City, Mr. <br />Olczak was advised that a deposit of $25.00 on each should be made to the Clerk <br />of the Board for the low bidders , in the event the properties are to be <br />demolished by the owner. <br />Bids were then opened for 841-843-84312- Bendix.
