5/4/70 <br />RETIREMENT - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board accepted and <br />approved the retirement of Sergeant Robert L. Biber from the Police Depart- <br />ment, effective May 15, 1970, Sergeant Biber having been appointed May 15, <br />1970. <br />ADOPTION OF STANDARD UNIFORM FOR SPECIAL POLICE.OFFICERS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for the adoption of a <br />standard uniform for special police officers. , <br />It was further moved, seconded and unanimously carried; that a deadline of two <br />years be established for such special police officers to acquire and use this <br />type of uniform. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Building Commissioner Forrest West for the transfer of $150.00 <br />from Account M-252 (repairs of equipment) to Account M-323 (tires and tubes); <br />LAC <br />and for the transfer of $175.00 from Account M-722 (motor equipment) to <br />Account M-725. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />203 E. Pennsylvania (accessory building. Mrs. Elizabeth Magee appeared before <br />the Board as requested. and stated that the shed needs to come down and that <br />she has asked the land contract buyer to take it down; and that he has started <br />but has not finished the demolition. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the matter was continued.one week to allow the sub -standards director <br />to give notice to the land contract buyer. <br />331. Kuntsman Court. Attorney Louis Anderson appeared before the Board and <br />stated the estate has no money with which to close up the building, that they <br />may be able to sell the property, and asked a continuance of one week, which, <br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, was granted. <br />838 S. Marietta. Neither Mabel Wolfe nor_ Charles Hahn appeared as requested. <br />Mr. Adamson stated Mr. Hahn had reported to him that neither he nor the owner, <br />Mrs. Wolfe, intended to make any repairs. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the matter was continued two weeks to permit the.Sub- <br />Standards Director to give notice to the owner direct. <br />2405 Kenwood. Neither Marvin nor Isabel Anderson nor Charles Hahn appeared <br />as requested. It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried to continue the <br />matter two weeks to permit the Sub -Standards Director to give notice to the owners <br />direct. <br />145 E. Paris Street. No one appeared on behalf of the St. Joseph County <br />Commissioners as requested. Mr. Adamson reported the house is empty. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 145 E. Paris Street. <br />147 E. Paris Street. Neither Roy nor Florence Kestner appeared before the <br />Board as requested. Mr. Adamson reported he has been unable to find them; <br />that the occupants have been relocated; that the land contract buyer, Mrs. Turley, <br />does not know the whereabouts of the Kestners. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek <br />bids for demolition of the structure at 147 E. Paris Street. <br />1015 E. Cedar Street. Mr. Adamson reported nothing has been done to repair <br />this building and no permits have been issued. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the matter was continued two weeks and the Sub - <br />Standards Director was requested to keep the premises under surveillance. <br />
