4/20/70 <br />AGREEMENT WITH BENDIX CORPORATION- TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT PRAST AND BENDIX <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, a release and indemnity agreement <br />in reference to traffic signals at Prast and Bendix Drive, between the City <br />of South Bend and Bendix Corporation, submitted to the Board by the Traffic <br />Director, was referred to the Legal Department for review and recommendation <br />to the Board. <br />STREET LIGHTING AGREEMENT - INDIANA AND MICHIGAN ELECTRIC CO. <br />Street lighting agreement between Indiana and Michigan Electric Company, <br />approved by the Board on March 30, 1970,,now being completed, was ordered <br />filed. Said contract being fora five year period commencing March 1, 1970. <br />CLYDE CREEK - WATERSHED STUDY <br />Request of Clyde E. Williams & Associates, Inc., under -date of April 15, 1970, <br />concerning the Clyde Creek Watershed Study was referred to the City Engineer <br />for review and recommendation to the Board. <br />REQUEST OF SEARS, ROEBUCK & COMPANY - TO REMOVE FIRE 0YURANT <br />The request of Sears, Roebuck and Company for authority to remove a fire hydrant <br />located between the street and sidewalk at the corner of Franklin Street and <br />the alley (recently vacated under Vacation Resolution Nos. 3294 and 3305) <br />was referred to the Water Department and the Fire Department for -recommendation <br />to the Board. <br />BETHEL COLLEGE STUDENT ASSOCIATION - "WALKATHON" <br />Russ Steele, Bethel College Student Association, 1001 W. McKinley, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana, appeared before the Board in connection with a "walkathon" planned <br />by the Student Association as a fund raising project, and was informed no <br />permission was necessary from the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD MARCH - IUSB COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that a copy of the request of George P. <br />Spite, Indiana University Student Body Committee on'Environment, 1825 Northside <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, to hold a march on Saturday, April 25, 1970, <br />commencing at 11:00 A.M., at the Indiana University parking lot and ending at <br />the County City Building for the purpose of gathering litter and trash, be <br />referred to the Street Commissioner with the request that a truck be provided <br />at the County City -Building for receiving the trash and litter; and a copy tm <br />the Police Department with the request that police protection be provided for <br />the march. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE NORTHSIDE BOULEVARD FOR BOAT RACE AND FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />BOAT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, following the recommendation 06111"the <br />Traffic Director and the Fire Department, the Board approved the request of <br />Gerald D. Schpok, Indiana University Student Association, 1825 Northside <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, to close Northside Boulevard, from 20th Street <br />to Greenlawn Avenue, during a row boat race planned for May 4, 1970, and <br />granted permission for the use of a boat and two firemen from the Fire De- <br />partment during the race. <br />PARADE REQUEST - WEST SIDE VETERANS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />Clem F. Hazinski, Chairman, West Side Veterans Memorial Committee, 1316 County <br />City Building, South Bend, Indiana, for the West Side Veterans to hold a <br />Memorial Day parade on May 30, 1970, commencing at 9:00 A.M., and lasting <br />approximately two hours, from Ford and Olive, west on Ford to Lombardy where <br />it will disband.
