4/20/70 <br />The Board reconvened at 2:30 P.M., with S. J. Crumpacker and James A. Bickel <br />present. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up. <br />Representatives of the General Finance Loan Company, with offices next to <br />751 S. Michigan Avenue, appeared before the Board and substantiated damage <br />to their building resulting from the demol.ition of the structure at 751 S. <br />Michigan Street. <br />A discussion followed concerning the completion of the demolition of the <br />structure at 751 S. Michigan Street and concerning uncompleted demolition <br />of structures by Mr. Davis at 513 S. Walnut Street, 123 E. Paris Street, <br />1132 S. Franklin Street and 1143 S. Franklin Street, Mr. Adamson was <br />directed by the Board to notify Mr. Davis, by letter delivered by a police <br />officer, of cancellation of contracts for demolition of these structures. <br />-It was moved, seconded and carried that the Building Department be notified <br />not to issue any permits to C. J. Davis, doing business as A & J Demolition <br />Company until further notice. <br />736 N. Frances Street. Attorney Paul Schwertley appeared before the Board on <br />behalf of the owners Wallace J. and Bessie Mitchell, and stated the property <br />is to be rehabilitated and should be completed within 60 days. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried the matter was continued one week for the owner to - <br />appear before the Board. <br />1015 E. Cedar Street. Neither Herschel nor Vera Snyder appeared before the <br />Board as requested. Mr. Adamson stated the house is open and has been <br />vandalized. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director <br />was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the premises at 1015 E. Cedar <br />Street. <br />1407 W. Sample Street. No representative appeared on behalf of St. Joseph <br />County Commissioners, owners of this property by virtue -.of delinquent taxes, <br />as requested. Mr. Adamson stated he has been in contact with the St. Joseph <br />County Tax Commissioners and they are agreeable to the property being demolished. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the premises at 1407 W. Sample Street. <br />1109 Duey Street. Booker T. Shell did not appear before the Board as requested. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 1109 Duey Street. <br />2211 S. Lafayette. Neither Sam nor Yetta Bernstein appeared before the Board <br />as requested. Mr. Adamson reported this property was sold to David Berbitsky <br />who is going to remove the house. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the matter was continued indefinitely, and the Sub -Standards Director was re- <br />quested to keep the property under surveillance. <br />331 Kuntsman Court. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this matter was <br />continued one week at the request of attorney Louis Anderson. <br />227 E. Fox. At the request of Mr. Adamson, the motion was made, seconded and <br />carried to continue this matter two weeks. <br />1726 S. Taylor. At the request of Mr. Adamson, the motion was made, seconded <br />and carried to continue this matter two weeks,. <br />4035 S. Michigan Street. Realtor Les Daniels appeared before the Board and <br />stated this property is in the process of being sold. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the matter was continued two weeks, and the Sub -Standards <br />Director was requested to contact the new owner. <br />316 Cushing. Mr. Adamson stated this building is open, that there has been a <br />fire, and that he is trying to relocate the occupant.
