cj_
4 S
9/5/72
140 North Shore Drive The matter of the sub standard condition of the
structure at 140 North Shore Drive having been continued till this date,
comes now, Frank Henningfeld who states he is trying to purchase the
property and will bring it up to standard. The matter was continued to
September 11, 1972
PAINTING OF FIRE HYDRANTS
Mrs. Ruth VonKarowski, 407 West Navarre Street, South Bend, Indiana,
appeared before the Board to state she meant no disrespect inpainting
the fire hydrant in front of her home red, white and blue. She feels
that the added color would not only make the hydrants more visible and
easier to find in case of a fire, but thinks it would dress u the city.
Mrs. Janet Allen also, appeared before the Board to state she Thought
painting the fire hydrants would be a good idea. The Fire Chief was
asked about his comments and said he was not sure about the law. He
stressed the fact that the colors must be uniform and all hydrants
painted exactly the same.
The Board expressed appreciation to Mrs. VonKarowski for bringing the
matter to their attention. They will take the matter under advisement
and see if it can be implemented to satisfy all of the concerned parties.
It will take a lot of thought and the keyword is uniformity. They will
leave the one hydrant painted as it is at this time , but they might
have to change it if it becomes feasible.
IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3365 - NORTH IRONWOOD DRIVE
Remonstrances having been filed against the improvement resolution, the
Engineer, Mr. Richardson, moved to hold the matter in abeyance until such
time as the Legal Department determines the proper procedure to use in
referring the matter to the Common Council.
