418 <br />8/21/72 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted the Chief's <br />recommendation and approved the retirement of Jack Hendrichs as of <br />August 15, 1972. The Board instructed the Clerk to write to Mr. Hendrichs <br />expressing appreciation for his service to the city. <br />EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE OVER THIRTY DAYS - JOHN VIGH, JR. <br />A report was received that John Vigh ::,requests an additional thirty day <br />sick leave because of hip surgery on the advice of his Physician. The <br />Chief recommends the extension and the Board, upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried approved the recommendation and grants the extension of <br />sick leave. <br />USE OF FIRE STATIONS FOR REGISTRATION <br />The following letter was received: <br />August 18, 1972 <br />Board of Public -Works and Safety <br />13th floor, County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Re: Use of Fire Stations for Poll <br />Honorable Board Members: <br />This office was contacted by Mrs. Klein, 6016 Harrow Drive, South Bend, <br />Indiana 46614, who represents the League of Women Voters, reference the <br />use of all twelve (12) of our Fire Stations on September 9, September <br />16, and September 23, from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for the purpose of <br />registering voters. <br />This requestsmeets with my approval provided you have no objections. <br />Thank you for your consideration. <br />Respectfully yours, <br />SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />JRB/ss s/ Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted the request <br />to allow the use of Fire Stations for voter registeration. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - RETIREMENT OF DETECTIVE SERGEANT MARVIN SCHINDLER <br />The following letter was presented to the Board: <br />August 15, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safely <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />At it's regularly scheduled meeting of Tuesday,.August 8, 1972, the <br />South Bend Police Pension Board approved application for full dis- <br />ability pension by Detective Sergeant Marvin Schindler and recommended <br />that this office so advise the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />Therefore, it is respectfully requested that said approval be granted <br />and made retroactive to date of August 16, 1972. <br />
