4-1_7 <br />1 <br />1 <br />August 21, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was convened <br />on Monday, August 21, 1972 at 9:30 A.M., with all members present. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS - MAIN AND CHIPPEWA STREET IMPROVEMENT:- RCS 47 <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of the <br />pavement at Main and Chippewa Streets, the following bids wereoopened <br />and read: <br />Mclntyere and Jones Construction Company <br />2526 West.6th Street <br />Mishawaka, Indiana 46544 <br />Non Collusion affidavit was fodnd to be in proper order. <br />Bid was not read item by item, but the Board stated it was open for <br />inspection to any one who cared to see it. <br />Base Bid $107,940.25 <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Company <br />P. 0. Box 775 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624 <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was found to be in proper order. <br />Bid was not read item by item, but the Board stated it was open for <br />inspection to any one who cared to see it. <br />Base bid <br />$93,612.25 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the <br />Bureau of Engineering for tabulation and an immediate report. <br />After tabulation the Board studied the rep®rt and upon motion made, <br />sconded and carried awarded the bid to Rieth-Riley Company on its low <br />bid of $93,612.25. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: RETIREMENT OF JACK HENDRICHS <br />The following letter was presented to the Board: <br />August 18, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />13th Floor, County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Re: Firefighter Jack Hendrichs <br />u <br />Honorable Board Members: <br />Attached hereto please find the Application and Declaration for retire- <br />ment of the above named firefighter, who wishes to make his retirement <br />effective August 15, 1972. <br />Firefighter Hendrichs has completed twenty (20) years of service on the <br />South Bend Fire Department.
