U01 <br />8/4.4/72 <br />Upon his plea of guilty to the three specifications contained in the <br />charges, the Board will accpt the plea. The Chief recommends punish- <br />ment. The Board feels that the charges are serious enough to adopt <br />the recommendation of the Chief and assess the punishment at ninety (90) <br />days suspension from the Department without pay. This to start•on <br />August 3, 1972. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the above recommendation was adopted and Patrolman Farr was suspended <br />from duty as of August 3, 1972 for a period of ninet* (90) days, without <br />pay. <br />PROMOTION OF PATROLMAN LARRY C. BLUME <br />The Chief presented the following letter to the Board: <br />August 14, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Your approval is respectfully requested of the promotion of Patrolman <br />Larry C. Blume to the rank of Sergeant, effective on date of August <br />15, 1972. Patrolman Blume was appointed to this department on date <br />of October 16, 1967. <br />Patrolman Blume is currently assigned to duties as Special Investi- <br />gations officer within the traffic bureau, handling all fatal accident <br />investigations and city -operated vehicular accidents. The complement <br />of this department currently includes the vacancy required for this <br />request. <br />Respectfully yours, <br />s/ Robert W. Seals, Chief of Police <br />RWS:mm <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted the <br />recommendation of the Chief and promoted Patrolman Larry C. Blume to <br />the rank of Sergeant as of August 15, 1972. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br />A letter was received from the Building Commissioner, Forrest West, <br />requesting permission to send the following Inspecters to the Annual <br />Fall Conference of the Indiana Association of Building Officials. on <br />August 20-23 in Evansville, Indiana: Harry Leslie; A. Bert Ellis; <br />Charles Crabiil; Frank Biebuyck; Isaiab Steed; Albert D. Foub and <br />Alex Niezgodski. Also Mr. West. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted the request. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub -Standards Director appeared at the meeting and <br />the following matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />710 N. Hill Street Mr. Steed informed the Board that -an Attorney <br />for the estate had called stating that the building sbouid[-be <br />demolished. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board directed <br />Mr. Steed -to seek bids for the demolition. <br />630=6302 North Hill Street Mr. Steed was authorized to request the <br />appearance of Kenneth W. & Rose E. Waterson to show cause why the <br />building at 630-6301 North Hill should not be demolished. <br />
