377 <br />7/17/72 <br />209 East Elder Street Mildred Dallie Rice appeared before the Board to <br />state she has no interest in the property and would donate it to the city. <br />She was advised to contact the Legal Department for the proper procedure. <br />608 East Ohio Street Harry Brooks not having appeared before "the Board, <br />and it appearing that he had not received the letter requesting him to do <br />so, another letter is to be sent to him and the matter is continued for <br />two weeks. <br />1123 East Donald Street The matter of the sub standard condition of the <br />structure at 1123 East Donald Street having been continued to this date, <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, Mr. Steed is now authorized to <br />seek bids for the demolition of the structure. <br />7292 Rush Street The demolition of this structure was contracted for <br />in January, but the Demolition Company has gone out of business. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried Mr. Steed was authorized to <br />readvertise for bids for the demolition. <br />1813:West Sample Street Mr. Clem Winkowski, 801 West LaSalle Street, <br />91-14 South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board to state that he has <br />r-4 been unable to rehabilitate the structure because the electricity <br />was shut off. People are living in the building. A temporary permit <br />V will be issued so the electricity can be turned on and upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, Mr. Winkowski was directed to appear be- <br />fore the Board in two weeks to tell them the repairs to the building <br />have been made. <br />711 George Avenue Mr. Julius O'Neal appeared before the Board to in- <br />form them that he had received the contract for the demolition of the <br />structure at 711 George Avenue and had moved his equipment to the site. <br />He was stopped before he could begin working by the owner who said he <br />had not had an opportunity to appear before the Board. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Clerk was directed to write a letter <br />to Mr. Richard D. Turk, 1416 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana re- <br />questing him to appear before the Board on July 24th to show cause <br />why the building should not be demolished. <br />COMPLAINT - MRS. JANET ALLEN - 2318 ELWOOD AVENUE <br />Mrs. Janet Alien appeared before the Board to complain that the Candy <br />Store operating at 2318 Elwood Avenue is still violating several sections <br />of the Municipal Code.Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Clerk <br />was directed to write to Mr. Edward M. Szczesniak, 1922 N. College Street, <br />owner of the place, to request that he appear before the Board on Monday, <br />July 24, 1972 to explain what has been done with regard to the violations. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Applications for the Police Department were directed to be sent to the <br />Personnel Department for filing: <br />John Joseph Smiertelny <br />Melvin J. Launer <br />Timothy Lee Decker <br />Rodney K. Harness <br />SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSIONS - JOSEPH KOPEC AND ViNCENT N. KOZIATEK <br />Special Police Commissions for Joseph Kopec and Vincent N. Koziatek were <br />presented to the Board, and upon motion made, seconded and carried, were <br />sent to the Legal Department for study and recommendation. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BOND - BENDIX CORPORATION <br />A Special Police Bond for employees of the Bendix Corporation was in the <br />form of a continuation which expires December 31, 1974. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the bond was approved for the following: <br />Donald G.
