6/26/72 <br />TRANSFER OF FUNDS IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Bland presented the following letter: <br />Board of Public Works and Safety, <br />13th Floor, County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Re: Transfer of Funds <br />Honorable Board Members: <br />It is respectfully requested that the following transfers be made in <br />the South Bend Fire Department 1972 Budget: <br />1. $1,800.00 from Q-263 Telephone Alarm System <br />to Q-252 Repair of Equipment <br />2. $5,000.00 from Q-722 Motor Equipment <br />to Q-726 Other Equipment (Hose, nozzles, axes, etc.) <br />3. Ordinance - <br />(,� $3,000.00 from Q-722 Motor Equipment <br />U to Q-43 Repair parts <br />V <br />Your review and consideration of the above will be appreciated. <br />Justification for these transfers, naturally, will be prepared and <br />presented by this office. <br />Respectfully, <br />SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />JRB/ss S/ Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the first two items of the above <br />were referred to the Controller's Office, and the last item was referred <br />to the Legal Department for the preparation of an Ordinance. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Pori°ce Chief Seals appeared before the Board and the following matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed: <br />The S & S Cleaners submitted a bid for the cleaning and storing of <br />uniforms for the crossing guards, for the summer. This was referred to <br />the Controllers office for study. <br />PERMISSION FOR POLICEMAN ON HORSEBACK <br />Chief Seals asked permission to use a uniformed officer experienced <br />in horsemanship, to wit, corporal Charles Kuskye, mounted on a horse <br />in the downtown area of the city at approximately 11:00 A.M. on <br />Wednesday, June 28, 1972 for about a half hour to promote the Rodeo <br />being put on by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #36. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, permission was granted. <br />CAPTAIN BENNINGHOFF TO SCHOOL <br />Chief Seals respectfully requested permission on a retroactive basis <br />to send Captain Walter L. Benninghoff to a two-day school dealing with <br />Organized Crime, held at Indianapolis, Indiana, sponsored by the Indiana <br />State Police on June 21 and 22, 1872. The City to be responsible for <br />transportation, lodging and per diem. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the Board granted the request. <br />
