6/26/72 TRANSFER OF FUNDS IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT Chief Bland presented the following letter: Board of Public Works and Safety, 13th Floor, County City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 Re: Transfer of Funds Honorable Board Members: It is respectfully requested that the following transfers be made in the South Bend Fire Department 1972 Budget: 1. $1,800.00 from Q-263 Telephone Alarm System to Q-252 Repair of Equipment 2. $5,000.00 from Q-722 Motor Equipment to Q-726 Other Equipment (Hose, nozzles, axes, etc.) 3. Ordinance - (,� $3,000.00 from Q-722 Motor Equipment U to Q-43 Repair parts V Your review and consideration of the above will be appreciated. Justification for these transfers, naturally, will be prepared and presented by this office. Respectfully, SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT JRB/ss S/ Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the first two items of the above were referred to the Controller's Office, and the last item was referred to the Legal Department for the preparation of an Ordinance. POLICE DEPARTMENT Pori°ce Chief Seals appeared before the Board and the following matters pertaining to his department were discussed: The S & S Cleaners submitted a bid for the cleaning and storing of uniforms for the crossing guards, for the summer. This was referred to the Controllers office for study. PERMISSION FOR POLICEMAN ON HORSEBACK Chief Seals asked permission to use a uniformed officer experienced in horsemanship, to wit, corporal Charles Kuskye, mounted on a horse in the downtown area of the city at approximately 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 28, 1972 for about a half hour to promote the Rodeo being put on by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #36. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, permission was granted. CAPTAIN BENNINGHOFF TO SCHOOL Chief Seals respectfully requested permission on a retroactive basis to send Captain Walter L. Benninghoff to a two-day school dealing with Organized Crime, held at Indianapolis, Indiana, sponsored by the Indiana State Police on June 21 and 22, 1872. The City to be responsible for transportation, lodging and per diem. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted the request.
