342 <br />June 26, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened on <br />Monday, June 26, 1972 at 9:30 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />BIDS FOR PACKER TYPE TRUCK <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for a packer type truck <br />for the Sanitation Department, the following bids were opened and <br />-read: <br />McCormick Motors, Inc. Non -Collusion affidavit was found <br />1255 W. Market Street to be in order. A bid bond of 10% <br />Nappannee, Indiana of the bid accompanied bid. <br />1 each packer Truck & Chassis $9,426.68 <br />1972 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis <br />ALTERNATE BID <br />I each Packer Truck S. Chassis <br />W/Automatic Transmission 8, Power Steering $9,800.00 <br />Fruehauf Corporation <br />137 South Olive Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46628 Non -Collusion affidavit was found -to <br />be in order. A check in the amount of <br />$935.00 accompanied Bid <br />1 each 1972 G.MC. Model CE 56463 S/N TCE 53WV523080 <br />1 each 1972 Range 10 - 10 Cubic Yard Rear Loading Refuse Body with <br />1 1/4 Cub Ic Yd Hopper - rear controls for packing - Front side <br />controls for ejection Lever Control for P.T.O. in Cab <br />Painted flame read refuse body painted white $9,350.00 <br />The above bids were referred to the Bureau of Sanitation for review <br />and report. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT!. <br />Chief Bland appeared before the Board and the following matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />WATER BALL CONTEST FOR I.F.A. CONVENTION <br />The Bureau of Traffic having informed the Board they have no objection <br />to blocking Washington Street for two hours on July 29, 1972 for the <br />purpose of having a Water Ball Contest, the Board now, upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, grants permission to the Fire Department to hold <br />said contest. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT: <br />Applications for the Fire Department were received and referred to the <br />Personnel Department for the following: <br />Eugene Page, Jr. Terrence A. Niemier <br />Michael Bartkowiak Michael A. Andrzejewski <br />DISCIPLINARY ACTION BY FIRE CHIEF <br />The Chief presented to the Board the action taken in several instances <br />where he deemed it necessary to discipline members of the Fire Department. <br />These have all been acted on by the Board in previous action. <br />
