Noble, Clerk <br />Dated this 30th day of May, 1972 <br />T.O.P !_._CS.Agreement for T-6000 SOUTH MAIN STREET UNDER TRACKS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved an agreement <br />2fJ providing for the use of T.O.P.I.C.S. Federal Funds in the construction <br />G� or Project T-6000 (6)'South Main Street reconstruction under Penn Central <br />Railroad Tracks. <br />LETTER FROM STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION <br />A letter was received under date of May 24, 1972, wherein they state <br />they cannot establish a detour on the route that was submitted to them <br />since Chapin Street is not a State Highway, A memo was received from <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommending that a resolution be <br />forwarded to the State stipulating that the City of South Bend will be <br />responsible for maintenence of Chapin Street which is not part of the <br />State Highway system while the detour is being used. Thereupon, upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution was passed: <br />"That the proposed detour of U.S. 20 utilizing Chapin Street <br />is preferred and that the City of South Bend hereby resolves <br />to relieve the State of Indiana of responsibility for main- <br />tenance of Chapin Street during the life of the detour." <br />This resolution will implement alternative i as indicated in your <br />correspondence dates May 24, 1972. <br />LETTER FROM PARK AVENUE RESIDENTS <br />A letter was received from the residents of Park Avenue, signed by Lola <br />Veen, asking that Manitou Place be closed to traffic on Wednesday evening <br />May 31st, from 7:00 till 9:00 o'clock for the purpose holding a block <br />party. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />closing of Manitou Place as requested. <br />REQUEST TO CHANGE PARKING METERS IN 500 BLOCK NORTH MICHIGAN STREET <br />A request was received, signed by owners of businesses in the 500 block <br />on North Michigan Street, asking that parking meters along the east <br />side of the 500 block of North Michigan in the north half of the block <br />be changed to 2 hour meters. The South half of the block now has 2 <br />hour meters. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic for investigation and report. <br />REQUEST TO MAKE ALLEY ONE WAY - PETER J. NEMETH, FRED BERTSCH <br />A request from Peter J. Nemeth on behalf of Mr. Fred Bertsch, asking that <br />the alley immediately south of the National Bank Parking lot, and immediately <br />north of the Bonnie Doon Restaurant on South Michigan Street be made a <br />one-way alley in order to discourage the "merry go round" traffic in the <br />vicinity. <br />
