He was appointed on March 23, 1942. Bland, Fire Chief <br />JRB/ss <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the recommendation and granted Modest Niezgodski retirement as of June <br />1, 1972. <br />EXTENDED SICK LEAVE FOR JOHN VIGH <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the recommendation of Chief Bland and extended the sick leave of fire- <br />fighter John Vigh to July 1, 1972. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Seals was present and matters pertaining to his department were <br />discussed. <br />The following letter was presented: <br />PROMOTION OF CORPORAL JULIUS A. HALASZ <br />May 30, 1972 <br />Bourd of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />It is respectfully requested that Corporal Julius A. Halasz, 2252 <br />Inglewood Place, appointed to the South Bend Police Department on <br />date of October 28, 1957, be promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective <br />June 1, 1972. <br />Corporal Halasz has served this department in all areas of Patrol <br />Division responsibilities with a heavy accent being effected in relation <br />to preparation for desk supervision which will be the position to <br />which he is assigned. <br />Respectfully, <br />s/ Robert W.
